While it isn't necessary it does help keep stuff clean...idk if i'll run one or not though.

Sometimes the extra combustibles without the cc on can increase/aid combustion

While in some cases that's true, oil actually lowers gasolines octane rating when combusting, atleast from what I've read.

I disagree. If you keep the PCV system stock, when you are running boost, the pressure forces the PCV closed, disallowing the crank pressure from venting off, possibly blowing your seals.

At the very least, you need to rough the PCV dump to pre turbo but if you are dumping oily shit pre turbo you can gum up your turbo. And depending on where you position your MAF, you will gum that up too.

Technically you can run without a catch can but its not recommended.

Yeah exactly what you said is what I was thinking the only reason I wouldn't run one I guess is if I end up not having money for it...but even then I'd just save up and put one on. Also is the pressurized oil source right below the oil filter? That hex bolt? I'm about to go look and see but i was just curious. Doesn't the 5VZFE have two valve cover "breathers"? doesn't this mean you would need a 4 port oil catch can?

So I uh just went and totaled up the cost and well uh its basically $3000...well $2925.17... I mean I could look for better prices but man at that price a s/c comes with a much better kit...although gives less HP

One is the valve cover has the pcv the other provides fresh air for the pcv.

But doesn't the catch can have to be connected to both?

No it wouldnt have to be. Idk about in a turbo setup.

This is how a pcv works. Fresh air comes in on the left, picks up the blow by and then it's feed into the intake. The actual valve is on the right in this pic.

Yes. It would attach between the pcv valve and the intake.

This is the 5vz fresh air tube for the pcv system. It would be the hose on the left of the previous diagram.

Its the one with oil on it.

What I did for the vent on the rear of the driver side was put an autozone filter on it but it kept venting the crap into my engine bay and into my vents so I put a one way check valve so air can only go in. I then ran the PCV to a vented catch can.

Only problem with this is if the pcv valve fails, gets stuck closed, your screwed cause it has no we're to go.

PCV might get clogged but that's a long way off. I doubt it would clog so bad that the seals would blow out before the clog does. Besides, proper maintenance should prevent that.
