Don't feel bad man, I walked 10 miles today because I was changing my belts out and had to order the AC tensioner pulley. So I go to put it on last night and The tension bolt under the alternator snapped. So I called Toyota this morning and they pointed me to two other specialty stores. So after a whole lot of BS I finally ended up rigging one up with a piece of threaded rod. But all in all, the belts aren't bad. I just take the air box out. I always get my belts from Toyota though.

Does the noise go away after the truck is running for a bit?

The valves are hydraulically operated (from what I understand) and the ticking/tapping sound is usually not enough oil pressure in the valves. After the truck runs for a bit, the pressure should build up and it should be fine.

I've had plenty of vehicles do this.

well, turns out it was the fan/ps belt making the noise. I went back to advance and asked them for another belt, without the funky grooves in it..I got home, exhanged them and it runs just as quiet as always. Thank god.

Yeah, I would love to and the wife doesn't care, but 164k makes me nervous about adding it.
