Well the thing is I kinda like the darn thing sitting high lol plus it seems like it will settle down a little overtime. I was thinking about replacing the front shocks to match the rear but am not sure which setup to go by.

Mine settled about 3/4" over 5 years haha. My new ones I left high because I regularly have 600lb on them now.

Thank you! Im liking that! I think thats what Im going to get. Now, is there anything else I have to worry about when installing those coilovers? Any other parts I have to replace like control arms?

Do some reading before moving forward, there are a lot of variables involved. I went with a 1.5" lift and that's about the most you can do without paying for additional modifications to the truck, but these trucks can go up to 3" lift with "bolt on" type modifications that are readily available (upper control arms, for example). Every change to the stock geometry affects other parts of the truck, so it sort of cascades once you begin modifying.

I wouldn't go as high as 3", you lose your downtravel comfort. But around 2.25-2.5 is nice

Agreed. For what I use my truck for I wanted to keep it as close to stock height as possible. :)

At the moment I really have no clue how much I need to lift the front to level out the truck. From what I understand I might have to remove a leaf if its going to take more than 2" of lift on the front to level the truck without replacing the upper control arms and keeping downtravel comfort?

I believe the OME Dakar pack provides 2.5" of lift. You need about 2" lift in front to level it out, perhaps less if you also remove some leafs from the rear. Read that OME thread it should have all the info you need.

Yeah that's pretty darn high. I can see daylight between the bottom of the frame rail and your tire. How tight is your rear brake line?

Not in this picture but went out and bought some sandbags ~280lbs and set them in the bed across the axle to help with the settling process (hoping atleast).

Here is another picture of it sitting on a flatter surface. Its pretty high.

Well, I hope I didn't give bad advice about that. It doesn't appear to have dropped much. Does it ride better with the added weight?

You swapped out the shackles, right? What is the length of the new shackles?

Haha 280 ain't enough to make those settle any, I get about 600 before it becomes pliable.

    0225181748a.jpg

That's with about 200lbs if tent and hilift

Loaded down it still can hold it's own...
    0316181212_HDR.jpg

    Exact same leafs you have

Here's when I first put them on...

No I really appreciate all the advice.
No I appreciate all of the advices from you guys. The picture above is without sandbags on it. The sandbags didn't drop it noticeably but I could see more slack on the flexible brake line underneath plus it rides much better with them on.
As far as the shackles go, they measure 5" 1/8" long.

Haha yeah I figured 280 isnt much but alteast it would hep with the ride quality till I lift the front. But heymy dad has been bugging me to help him with hauling some compost for his garden, I might load her up this weekend lol. Looks like not much change between your initial install and now. So that means mine are not going to sag either but im ok with that. Just need lift the front to somewhat level it out. Btw how much lift do you have on your front end?

Hello! Would you mind sharing the part numbers for the rear shocks? I've got a 96 like yours but when I put on the Dakars, the supplied Bilstein F4-BE5-D559/560-TO's were too short. Never did figure out what was wrong. If that's all the rust you've got, I agree you got an excellent deal on that truck. Beware though, too much time here will take of the money you saved pretty quick.

Yeah they don't wear down much which is good, but unless you carry a lot it's hard to match the lift well. I have about 2.0-2.25" of lift in the front on icon coilovers.

    Here's a more current pic.
    0525181802_HDR.jpg

It matches pretty decently right now when loaded for camping and rides with some stinkbug when unloaded.

    0525181804.jpg

    Those leafs are capable...

If I were you I'd buy some 10" Bilstein 5125 through Wheelers Off-road and ask them to press in the bushings for a Tacoma for you.
