96taco power door locks

I've got a 96 Tacoma with power locks wanting to add a wireless relay to remote unlock and lock doors how is the best way to go about this.

 

Well it depends you might be able to upgrade to one of the systems off one of the newer Toyota vehicles finding the remote control might prove interesting.

Maybe someone parting out a crashed truck would sell all the parts

Look into the after market kits

 

Aftermarket kits will be a hundred times easier. You can buy a keyless entry module for under $20. You just need to tap into the right wires.

 

The dealer installed toyota kit is still available. It is mostly plug and play. Directions are avilable with a little google-ing.

Damn $234!? You can buy an amazing remote start, keyless entry, and alarm system for that kind of money.

 

Just providing an OEM plug and play option.

 

when I put in my vehicle info the plug and play option doesn't not fit a 96 but I do appreciate the input.

I found this on eBay and I think based on what I've read, that it will get the job done. If it works I will post pics of the install.

 

Docooler Car Remote Central Lock Locking Keyless Entry System with Remote Controllers

I used this system. Works great for $14. I'm replacing it with a nice Viper Remote Start system soon. The thing about buying Viper products is they require that you have them installed by an authorized installer or your warranty will be void. They don't provide install instructions either, you really gotta hunt around.

 

I'm found a review of the product that included a great deal of information about install. I'm hoping my electrical background will help out also.
