It should stay at 4 psi IAW spring. If boost goes any higher, either you have a bad WG or bad vacuum connection. Make sure the vacuum connection is not tapped/shared with any other line. It should be connected to the Turbo vacuum connector and not your manifold.

WG runs directly off of the turbo intake and ties into my ebc. I drilled out and put a fitting in the aluminum intake section of the turbo itself. The Map sensor for the ebc is teed post tb off of the manifold.

Would you guys recommend a flywheel to go with the clutch? I noticed some are heavier high torque and others are lighter than oem (aluminum).

This build is really awesome, can't wait see it all done, IMO I would think you'd want the heavier low torque flywheel.

I have a question about fueling with turbos as I hope one day I can do such a thing, would it be possible just to run a 7th injector similar to how they do it for the sc's? Just curious as I'd feel it it be a lot simpler approach but I haven't seen anybody do it.

You can fab a 7th injector on the stock intake manifold but it will have to spray shortly after the TB as the runners for each cylinder become independent.
    Its not a realistic option.

The 7th injector for the SC works because when Toyota developed it, they added an EGR valve option for the older trucks that still had this system. For trucks that didn't have the EGR system, it wasn't hard to make an injector that could fit in that opening. If you are still running the EGR system, you were stuck with upgrading your primary fuel injectors instead of the 7th injector.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense actually, so I guess the best way was the turbo port fueler that urd stopped making huh?

Not enough demand I guess. For him to make a profit on those, he would have to order them made in bulk. Not a lot of 1st gens and even fewer getting turbos :notsure:

Installed my bov and I love it. It makes a very quick short whistle sound followed by a pssssssh. Much better imo than putting pressure back on the turbo. No real loss in spool or power. I mean, how often do you see a tacoma down the road and hear a pshhhhh. It's fun. I really like driving by big full sizers with their loud exhaust that doesn't make them any faster, giving them a little bov release, and letting them know a little tacoma will smoke them. Or at least hang with a 250/2500 or 350/3500.

I was originally going to use a nitrous wet shot solenoid and nozzle without the nitrous and a Hobbs or temporary switch, but I got a really good deal on a port fueler and 6 injectors

This should be no suprise to you guys, but the guy at glassworks has told me two times that my kit was to be sent out (fiberglass front and rear) and it hasn't been sent. It's been over 2.5 months. I call and call but they don't answer.....not sure what to do at this point. I want the glassworks and am willing to wait but shit, tell me the truth about it, don't tell me it's being shipped when it's not!

Got in the LCE dual comp clutch and 30lb billet steel flywheel. Might be a few weeks before I'll have time to drop this badboy in. Anyone have a link offhand on how to install a clutch into our rides? I'd rather make things easier on myself.

This evening I ran my wastegate directly off of the turbo and it is doing the same thing. Keeps boosting more and more up to 10+psi at higher rpm until i have to let go of WOT to protect things. It was an eBay wastegate and when I opened it up it had long larger and smaller springs inside (2 that were kind of rusty) IAW 8psi. So I bought a 4psi spring (shorter/fatter) that is way different than the springs it came with. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the 4psi spring. It was a pain to get closed too when I put it in! Thinking it might be something to do with the new spring I put in isn't right for the wastegate and is super holding the wg plunger down hard enough not allowing enough gas to bypass the turbine. Otherwise not venting exhaust like a 4psi would, more like allowing only a little out like a 15psi would.

Sounds like your WG isnt big enough. As your exhaust builds up, its not able to redirect enough of it away from the turbo causing the turbo to continue to spool.

Rusted spring? Shit. WG is very important and you shouldn't go cheap on those. Can blow a motor if you're not careful.

I think I am definately agreeing at this juncture! Will prolly go with a tial that has all spring sizes. I know you guys told me this like a month ago too. Oh well, I was hoping the $50 wg would work over a $250 tial. The tial thatI'd like would be the f38. Do you recommend the 38mm? I bought one of those because the cx kit came with that size.

    but

    Told ya so :D

a 38mm should be fine for our motors. Unless you want to redo the flange on the headers to fit a 44mm...which honestly is what i think should be on there in the first place..

Im running a 38mm but never built boost. The CX kit included a 38mm. With only a 5400 rpm red line, 38mm should be ok. If you are building the top and bottom end and raising the red like to 7-8k 38mm might be a bit small.
