My Mom's '99 Ext Cab Prerunner's headlights are foggy...

what I mean by that is the lens is not clear like on he 2ng gen Tacos... and I don't remember if it ever was even when it was new.

It that's the way they were new then just tell me to shut up.

Otherwise, I did see something at Walmart the other day that was some type of headlight restore kit in a pouch. I think it was $7-$10 Anyone know about it or if it would help clear up the lens? I know I can get a couple oem replacements on ebay but if there's a $10 temp fix vs a $200 long term fix, I'm okay with that.

The 1st gen headlights from 1995-2000 were never fully clear so the best you will do with the kit is to remove the yellowing effect. I was going over the same dilemna over the summer and I found a clear headlight kit on ebay for about $100 with shipping. I then installed some silverstar ultra bulbs on them and I have yet to see a brighter tacoma. Not to mention it looks better than all pre-2001 tacos in town.

Thanks, was the kit on ebay a complete set of replacement headlights?

I had a similar issue on my wife's 2001 Prelude. It had a rough texture on the exterior of the lens. After a bit of searching on the web and Prelude forums I found that other had polished their headlights and have had good results. So, I picked up a polishing kit at an aircraft supply store on the web and began the process. The directions in the kit have you start by masking off the surface, then wet sanding with 600 grit sand paper. Then you go through the 4 compounds and 2 polishing pads. It takes a bit of time but it removes the haze and leaves smooth, clean, factory surface on the lens.

    I purchased the product from:
    http://www.chiefaircraft.com/airsec/Aircraft/Windshields/ScratchRemoval.html

Here is what you can do:

Had the same deal on my Mustang.... Try this stuff.. $6.00 at a parts store.
Wetsand til all the Yellow is gone.. mask the paint around them then take a buffer to em with this stuff or any other plastic or metal polish... does wonders for a few beers worth of time... or magarita's in my case...:D

These were all Yellowed and the clear was flaking to boot.

Yeah the kit was a complete drop in headlight set. You do need to remove the grille and the little painted strips on the front. The headlight casing stayed the same so you do need to pull out the old ones but it shouldn't take longer than an hour.

I had a tube of that "G-S 27" scratch remover laying around so I tried it on my son's 1995 eldorado headlights which were totally hazed over from years of wind and weather...it's like I bought brand-new headlights! Just swirl this stuff around and it resurfaces that haze right out.

That's the exact same set I installed in mine. I left out the corner lamps though and kept the stock ones. Put in some silverstar ultra lamps and they get even brighter.

yeah, the clear corners, I took out and put the stock ones back in because the clip that holds the bottom of the light in kept coming out...
