I have had some Air Conditioning problems at the house for the last few days. After fixing a few things, it ha now been discovered that the coils are real dirty.

Wanted to see if I could get some ideas on the best way to clean them? I was quoted $300 from one company, and surely it can't be too difficult.

    Any help would be appreciated.

They are the internal coils, would have been nice to point out. I do not have any friends that do maintenance for an apartment, and yes, there are a ton of them.

Yeah. I should be able to get to them. I can remove the access panel on the front of the unit, and get to them. To the top side of the coils. On the bottom where the filter is, is caked with hair and such.

Well you can try a shop vac with a brush tip..............do use a hard tip.........very carefully vac the area with not to much pressure.......you dont want to damage anything........Now I dont know if you have a place in dallas called Grainger, but they sell coil cleaner in cans and you will also need a fin brush....................

Yes, there is a grainger right down the road. I'll stop by on Friday to see of they can hook me up. Do I just spray the chemical onto the coils.fins, and let it dissolve the gunk?

I guess use the brush to clean inside the fins with the chemical on? Then just shopvac the mess

I have used Coil Cleaner, No Rinse, Aerosol, 18 Oz quite a bit and have been happy with it...........I use the vac to pick up dust and pet hair and generally clean up the unit

Oh My, that is hilarious. I'll make sure and read the directinos on the can so this doesn't happen to me. I was curious is I ate the aerosol, but now it's all so clear.
