Okay lets see if I can get this across correctly. The pic I posted above is from a 2013 owners manual, now when I bought my truck and winter approached I would be driving along and had the recirculating air button on so as not to smell whatever was outside in front of me. The button would magically shut off all by itself. I would reach over turn it back on and a few minutes later it would go off again. I took it back to the dealer thinking there was a problem. The service writer flips my book open to that page and explained it does this be design to help keep your windows from fogging up. He says you need fresh air below certain temps, in this case Toyota decided it was 50 degrees. Now I know I’m not the on
one with a truck that does this there is a whole thread in here about it and their way to fix it was to shut off the outside air by unplugging the servo so it couldn’t open again. All I want to know is does this particular mod stop the recirculating button from shutting off on its own.

I have never seen this happen in my truck but I will be watching it. Usually I drive with outside air, but I'll switch it for a while

I’m the opposite I drive with inside air. Theres also a thread on here that actually discusses this air circulation button and exactly what I’m describing it does. I just haven’t had anyone who understands what I’m asking, and has done this mod answer me but I’m still hopeful lol.

I also have a ‘13 and completed this mod years ago. The recirculating button functions normally. I don’t recall it functioning in the way you described when it was stock.

edit: I also completed the no ac when temp knob turned to max cold.

I have my answer, if I do this mod and the auto max ac mod the recirculating air button will only go on or off if I push it and not on its own.

I would say about 20ga, i just depinned mine, wrapped a small piece of wire around it, stuck the other end in next to the 12v pin, and secured with a couple zip ties. That way it can easily be returned to stock, I've had it that way for over a year and had no issues doing it that way.
