A first for me, Taco dies right after start

I was going to work, got a 1/4 mile down the road and the engine died on me. Multiple restart attempts failed. Engine would start and run for about 1sec. and die again. Walk home and take the wife's car to work. My first thought was fuel pump. After work I checked the Ultragauge, no codes, and it would still die right after start. While digging in the engine I found it...

SUCK!
Chewed right through a brand new filter and made a nest in the plenum. The nest sucked against the screen starving the engine for air. So a good cleaning and new filter, the Tacos record remains spotless.

I found a whole uneaten slice of bread sitting ontop of my engine once

 

Sounds like something a little larger than a mouse

 

Ass u me U use it 4 work every day amazing something could do that much damage over nite.

 

Must a lot of mice in you nieghborhood. Your might check other places on your truck and the wife's car.
I hate cats but . . . Get a cat.

 

I'd go over the engibe bay itself and make sure those little bastages didn't chew on wires and such.

Had a outdoor cat, great mouser, chipmunks, birds, bats, rats. He's been missing since Nov.

i had an environmental professor in college tell our class "if we run over cats, we get extra credit, and even more credit if we get the head". He told us outdoor cats are responsible for a horrendous amount of wildlife death, especially birds, and that the cats are not a natural predator to the area. The man does not beat around the bush and cater to sensitive folks. And this is not the most extreme thing by far to come out of his mouth

 

The advantages of a outdoor cat far outweigh the disadvantages (killing a few sick birds). I do not advocating letting feral cats having free reign. Ours was "fixed", and definitely was earning his keep!
