I am shopping around and I was curious as to what a good price for the Tacoma I want would be. I want an 2008 Tacoma, Indigo Ink Pearl, Double Cab, Automatic, SR5 package #2 (SL trim). The best deals I am getting are like $23,885, 23,850, $23,824. Are these good deals or can I do better? Are floor mats really important for an extra $200? Also is there a huge difference between Steel and Alloy wheels? Thank you for any suggestions.

Is that price for a 4x4? What region? Edmunds has TMV pricing that helps when you price your truck with options by region & is helpful imo.

My mats sit in the garage. Toyota use to provide a pretty nice, heavy duty mat. I use Weathertech liners now.

The steelies have different TPMS sensor than the alloys (20 degree vs 40 degree). Also the steelies only come in 16's. The alloys can be 17 or 16 (Sport vs Offroad). The Steel rims come with Dunlops AT20s. The alloys with BFG Rugged Trails. A lot of folks swap their tires & rims out. My truck came with steelies & I opted just to put different tires on it. Sometimes with aftermarket rims your TPMS will swap over, sometimes you gotta buy new ones, some here do mods to over ride the system, some just live with the light in the dash. Lots of choices, it doesn't end with the purchase....

Good luck keep posting & show pics once you buy!

    What are these different models?

5 Lug - This Tacoma sits very low to the ground and utilizes a 5 lug bolt pattern for the wheels, hence why they are called 5 lugs. They have the least ground clearance of all Tacoma models and are unavailable in a V6 model.

PreRunner – It is very common to see people confuse PreRunner with 4x4. The term PreRunner comes from Desert Racing where teams would use a 2wd truck to pre run the course to look for trouble spots. Toyota uses this term to refer to a 2wd truck that has a 4x4 suspension, thus giving it increased ground clearance and looks.
4x4 – The term 4x4 comes from having 4 wheels, all 4 can receive power from the engine. In a 4x4 Model you have a Transfer Case that will allow you to take your truck out of rear wheel drive and make all for wheels power it. This is a good thing for those who tow boats or plan on doing a lot of Off Roading.

If I were you I would wait for the 09's to hit the showrooms (Indigo won't be avalible in the 09's though), you will probably get a better deal on an 08 then due to "model end clearance". Also, you can get floor mats & alloy stock rims on craigslist for cheap. da hui's post is pretty comprehensive with regard to pricing.

I am finally about ready to bite the bullet. I've been talking with the Internet Manager this week.

I've been offered: MSRP $21,019 Selling price $20,242.03 + $99 service and handling fee - $750 rebate your total is $19,591.03.

This is for: 2008 Toyota Tacoma MSRP
    Model - 7114 ACCESS CAB 4X2 Base: $19,360.00
Exterior Color - 0209 BLACK SAND PEARL Installed Options: $1,659.00
    Interior Color - FF13 ASH/DRK CHARCOAL Total: $21,019.00

    Selected Options and Packages
    Code Description Code Description
CP Convenience Pkg: Pwr Windows/Door CF Carpet Mat Set
    - Locks/Mirrors, Remote Keyless Entry, - w / Door Sill Protectors
    - Cruise Control, Sliding Rr Window F1 VIP Sales Follow-Up
    - w/Privacy Glass I1 PDS - Pre Delivery Services
FE 50 State Emissions G1 Vehicle Fueling (4 Gal.)

What should I counter with? I realize they have to make a living as well but I would just like to maximize my savings. Edmunds TMV says that the incentive should come after the final price bringing it to$18,335 With the invoice being $18,936

    Thanks to everyone.
