Simply put. If you can afford to drink then you can afford a cab. They both cost similar.

I graduated from college last year and over the 4 years I was there I saw many bad decisions happen. Some cost friends scholarships, some lost their licenses and some had to drop out because of stupid decision made while drinking. I never had an issue. Make plans on where your sleeping and how you are getting there before you start drinking. I would keep a bike in the back of my car at all times. If I drank and couldnt stay. I would bike home. I am aware it is illegal to bike drunk in California, but it never endangered others. It was a college town and the police didnt seem to mind seeing you biking slow on the sidewalk at 3:30am. Remember when you drive after drinking it not just you that is taking a risk with your life. You’re risking everyone’s life.

Its a CUI. Cycling under Influence. Its a $250 fine if you get cited, but most cops never cared.

It's not that you can/can't afford it. It's that you *think* you're not very drunk so you would rather get your vehicle home and avoid the ride home today and the ride back tomorrow.

Losing a friend to something stupid like drinking is even worse because all he had to do was call you and he could have saved his own life... FYI i always tell my friends, CALL ME i dont care if its 3am! Drinking and driving is the stupidest thing you can do with a vehicle in my opinion.

A guy at my school was driving drunk going 105 mph on the road I live on and rear-ended a car and it killed one and seriously injured another. Never drive drunk.

Bump for being about that time when schools start back up. I know I've been "that guy" that said he was fine, but I have friends who have always stepped up, taken my keys, and driven me to their house or mine, or even walked me to their houses since they live only 2 blocks from the bar so I was safe. I would never go out drinking alone. Having friends there I can trust to do that, and also having someone there who has my back just in case someone starts shit is always a good feeling.
