If I had that much weight full time I would get a new leaf pack and sell the OEM leafs to help offset cost.

Not stupid, I asked similar things when I first started up.

Tsb: stands for technical service bulletin. It is what Toyota puts out saying certain parts on the truck are likely to need service and possible repair. This is not a recall however. Pertaining to leaf springs, the "tsb leafs" are a tsb toyota ran in like 2008-2010 maybe to add a leaf to the old saggy 2 leaf packs. For example, my 2005 came with a leaf pack containing 2 leafs and an overload one. A 2012 would come with a 3 leaf pack and an overload one.

An AAL: simply an add a leaf, there are many aftermarket options from many companies. Some are single leaves you add in, which tend to sag over time. Others are "progressive AALs" which contain 3 AALs that you add to your leaf pack

So an aal does pretty much the same thing?

Yes. But the tsb aal is from toyota and doesn't lift your truck much, if at all. Most aftermarket AALs give you 1-2" of lift

I think it was 2014 MY that every truck got the 4 leaf packs. Mine is a 2013 and I have a 3 leaf.

Also the TSB pack does lift the truck a bit, compared to the 3 leaf.

Ohh okay. Well you should go to toyota and get the extra leaf if ya want. I think they should, not sure

Nah, I just pulled the trigger Friday night on a full OME kit with the Dakars and everything. Worked alot of weekends to make it happen, but I decided to do it right, from the get go.

I went with Wheeler's. I asked about new leaf packs before and no dice.

Where do you install the axle shim when installing an AAL? Between the AAL and over-load spring or between the over-load and axle perch?

Judging from history.. I'd say no. :p

I'd take TSB leafs for free, otherwise there are better aftermarket options. Love my setup now though so I'm all good.
