I can't tell really if the bumper is tweaked or the frame. can't really do much investigating until the insurance company and adjusters do their thing. hopefully that isn't too painful.

just sucks If I have to replace the bumper it's gonna have to wait until I get back from deployment.

How fast was he going? It looks like he must have floored it when he made contact. I told my mom about it and she asked, what in the hell a 97 year old man was doing still driving? She is 87 herself.
Did it mess up the bedsides at all? You unfortunately have experience with insurance companies, so maybe it won't be so painful.

the bed sides are still good. I really don't know why he's still behind the wheel. I feel bad for him but maybe this will be a wake up call for him and his family. it could have been worse then a bent up bumper in a parking lot.

I'm sick of dealing with insurance...I have some crappy luck

Damn, I didn't think the swingarm would bend like that, it looks so strong. Makes me worry about mine, lots of old farts and people on cell phones out there. You doing anything next weekend? could use some help with my skids.

If your bumper base is not damaged, you should be able to get a hold of Brute Force for a replacement swing arm. As much as it sucks to get your baby damaged, especially when it's brand new. It could have been a lot worse. As for the bent tailgate, I couldn't quite make out if the top lip of the tailgate is bent. If it isn't, you could disassemble your tailgate and using a soft mallet and a bucking bar, tap out that dent. Good luck with the insurance adjusters.

Have you tried taking the spindle off and checking the stalk or post that the hinged tire mount rides on with a 90* angle. This should give you some piece of mind that your whole bumper isn't toast. I'm not quite sure how the spindle rides on your particular bumper, but hopefully it should be fairly straight forward. Also its now been two to three years since the 12 hit the market so you might be able to find a junker rear tailgate for cheaper then an auto body shop might quote you. It'll take some digging on your part to track one down. Or just head over to your local shopping mall and find a Taco in your color and acquire a rear bumper :spy: Just kidding, that's illegal and morally wrong
