About BILSTEIN 5100 use stock SR5 springs

    are SR5 stock springs same to TRD springs? any difference on the 5100s?
    Do I set both sides of the shocks on the same height? (eg. 2.5--2.5 inch)
    I think the driver side is heavier so will that make the driver side of the truck lower than the passenger side?

    4.10 gears, sliders, lots of buttons, and yellow flashing lights on the dash.
    SR5 springs are different, but set them at the same height, and keep the driver side on the driver side, and passenger side on the same. The springs are side specific, so dont get them mixed up.

    To much to list...see sig for more...
    IIRC TRD are progressive rated and SR5 aren't. If anything the SR5's will ride a little more comfortable cause they are non progressive rated springs.

    Gents,

    new to the forum and grateful for the wealth of info and enthusiasm of the members.

    mostly use my truck for work around town as a home remodeling contractor.

    my recreational needs are access to unimproved boat ramps to drop a drift boat, backcountry camp and fishing pursuits.

    i'm looking to level my '11 stock SR5 4x4 with the Bilstein 5100's, stick w the stock wheels and install 265/75/16 or taller tires without getting into any lift kits and major suspension work.

    any advice and pitfalls to avoid would be most helpful as in:

    1. do i need to replace springs w the Bilstein 5100 upgrade?
    2. on a 16" rim what is the tallest tire that will fit?
    3. do i replace the rear shocks w Bilstein's as well?
    4. a shop referral for having the work done near Berkeley CA?

    1- No. I switched to 5100s with stock coils a long time ago & everything has worked great. However, if you are planning on mounting a plate bumper you will need stronger coils, so changing everything at once will be more cost effective in the long run.

    2- The largest tire for stock is 265/75r16. However, you can fit 255/85r16 with minimal rubbing. I moved to the taller size last week, & I only rub in reverse. I am also in NOLA where the largest obstacles are curb height, so you must factor in your off-road needs. The 255/85r16 Owners Experience thread in the Wheels/Tires section has everything you need to know.

    3- It is not necessary, but switching the rears is well worth the small extra cost.

    4- Can't help you there. Move away from the PRC?
