    THE EXIT OFFROAD STORY

In the 1990’s, pretty much all 4×4’s on the market were pretty tough vehicles and could quite easily be modified to suit the owners preferences for what he or she wanted to do with it. This of course included a slew of cool vehicles from the 80’s and Mike Tomczyk from Exit Offroad got into offroading through the passion of modifying his Suzuki Samurais and Sidekicks and hitting the trails with family and friends in the Blue Mountains, a few hours West of Sydney, Australia. A mild suspension lift, little bit bigger tires and some stronger wheels was all it took, then as things broke, they got repaired, and as extra money came in, more modifications and accessories could be added to the vehicle. Better lights, bumpers, lockers, gears, engine upgrades, transmission swaps, full body restorations, etc. In just a few years, Mike had been the owner of several Suzuki’s, quite often 3-4 at the same time – one usually as a parts vehicle, one being setup to flip and sell, and one as a daily driver and offroad weekend vehicle. This is how it began, and this passion is still with Mike today. By learning to drive offroad in a small and compact 4×4, this tough the necessity of proper wheel placement, gear choice and driving technique without the assistance of lockers, lower gearing, or horsepower.

    As time went on...
A move from Australia to the USA in the early 2000’s and Mike was already in the auto parts industry working for large corporate-run stores across 4 different US states. In 2005, Mike took a job with ARB 4×4 Accessories in Seattle Washington, and quickly rose through the ranks, attending hundreds of shows, 4×4 club meetings and swap meets, and too many offroad events to count in multiple states and countries throughout North and South America. This wealth of knowledge through travel, speaking with 1000’s of people, and driving all sorts of 4×4’s has brought Mike an unprecedented amount of knowledge of how to repair, fix, and recommend parts to suit both his and his friends, families and customer’s vehicles.

Mike’s main passion in terms of parts sales has always been in suspension upgrades, since it’s the thing you will notice and feel every single time you move your vehicle. In 2016, Mike took a job as General Manager of Dobinsons Spring & Suspension out of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia to setup a market in the USA for this awesome family-owned suspension company, and help advance their product range to suit the American market. This leads into late 2019 when Exit Offroad was formed to allow Mike more time to travel and attend offroad events, festivals and shows, in addition to getting out of the trails more by offering sponsored trail runs, organizing specific meetups in different parts of the country, and also allowing for more frequent travel back and forth to Australia to visit family and friends, and to do more exploring that was put on pause all those years ago!!

Exit Offroad is a small company, but rest assured that you are dealing with extremely knowledgeable and grounded staff that will only offer the best advice, products, sales and service, and most importantly, making sure you get the correct products to suit what you need the first time!!
