Just FYI... New truck + new clutch + accumulator = very disconnected clutch feel. Easy to drive but weird feel until the clutch seats properly. I hope you have that deal locked up because dealers love ppl coming long distances so they can introduce a 'misunderstanding' at signing. Good luck!

Oh, forgot the dealer - it was San Francisco Toyota. They have one incoming that's marked up $5k - the one I'm going to pick up arrived on Monday and I called them Tuesday.

Thanks for the recs. I've got two toddlers at home and this was very much a last minute trip so I won't be able to wine and dine solo with my wife waiting for me at home...

That said, if you have a slightly more scenic route vs the Northern CA I-5 farmland, let me know. Was thinking of at least driving Highway 1 through the Redwoods and then staying in Crescent City for night one. Then powering through the 9 hours to Seattle from there. I have the second night if I really need it.

Thanks, will take a look! I'm not really a wrench guy so likely won't learn to do the oil change myself BUT regardless will take a look.

Yeah, I've read this. Won't be exactly by the book, but have this all in mind. Shipping was about $1k - even though I'm more or less committed flying all the way down there, I really want to see it in person before having it show up at my door.

Go via coast. I did a few 12 hours drives from SF to Seattle. One was in the winter and i had to divert to avoid Shasta. Went via 101to Santa Rosa( Russian River brewery to get some Pliny), Eureka (some seafood dinner).
Depends on the weather, you can cut to I-5 after Eureka, or push more north and then cut to I-5

    Just go for it,man!!!

Make it a 2 day trip and go 500 miles at a time. Just go easy on it the first 500 miles, but after that you should be good.

The "new" feel with the accumulator was a bit wonky at first but not really noticeable on the highway. After a couple thousand miles I have no desire to do the "accumulator delete" as things are breaking in. Enjoy the drive home!

Congrats on the pro! Drive home should be epic. If you have an iphone, appleplay is a great option for NAV.

This explains what I was feeling when I test drove a MT. Happy with my auto but MT are just plain fun to drive.

As @Vlady mentioned you can take 101 North through Marin county into Sonoma county. Well worth the pit stop at Henhouse (Petaluma and/or Santa Rosa) or Cooperage (Santa Rosa) to pick up some 4 packs for home. Just off 101 and you are in and out in a few minutes and say a bio pitstop. Once past Cloverdale you can hop off the 101 onto 128 through Boonville. prior to Albion there is a fork and you can head up 101 to Mendocino/Fort Bragg (North Coast brewing is up there, ha) and follow hwy 1 up until it joins with 101 North again (Leggett). From there 101 North to Eureka up to Klamath and on to Crescent City. Just did that same drive up to Fort Bragg last month in my new MT TRD Pro. Bit of a leg workout, you and that 6 speed will be one as soon as you get back onto 101.

You could always hop on hwy 1 just past Sausalito once you cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Stinson and Point Reyes Station are always some pretty sights.

Keep in mind flooding is pretty gnarly right now in Northern CA and in the "mountains" (hwy 128) there are likely mudslides now or soon. So do keep an eye on the route you are planning on taking and potential road closures. However, it sure beats the boring trip on 5 up to Redding.

Definitely drive up US1 to Leggett and then jump on I5 after Crescent City. I would.

That's the way to do it. I got a great deal but I was more than a little sad mine turned up less than 300 miles away. I've driven new cars across the country twice (both times from the same place in Colorado) - once to the SW where I lived at the time, and the other back here in the Great Lakes. The first was a week long road trip with the now better half, and the latter was just a quick 2 day ordeal, just trying to make good time..both were a great time in their own ways.

This would be a blast! Plus, the varied route means you will be breaking the truck in correctly (not cruising for hours at a constant speed).

Maybe stop in at Hog Island Oyster Company or Tony's up in Marshall, CA (if they're open right now).

It's gonna be a memorable trip! What a way to kick it off. Congratulations. Totally envious.

    Yes, yes they are.

They are one of the highest volume dealers, so they get more inventory. But... They are quite shitty and will deceive you.
