2E334930-B636-45D3-98BD-D171272EC67E.jpg So this week my truck will hit 250 000 km, at this point most people decide its time to sell or trade to get something newer. For some its to get all the new gadgets like cooling seats, better mpgs, greater looks. For others its because they are just scared that the vehicle will start to become a money pit in repairs and be unreliable. All my friends and family keep asking me when am I going to get the 3 gen. To be honest I just want to keep driving my truck until Gas engines are ilegal.

Ive had the truck for 7 years now, I drove thrue mud, sand, lakes, rivers, climbed mountains, drove down valleys in quad trails, drove across canada for 52 staight hours with limit payload to the point the frame was resting on the bumpstops and the truck never broke down or overheated. Always got me from point A to point B without an ounce of drama. Everything on the truck still works, a/c blows colder than ever, heater hot as hell. Every single light bulb is original exept headlights, still has original coolent ( never added any).

This truck is tough and looks and feels like it wants to do 250 k more. I always do my oil and filter changes on time, so far I changed all the idler pulleys and belt tensioner, front wheel bearings, and most recently I got my first check engine light ( need a new catalytic converter driver side ).

So what should I do mechanicly if I want my truck to keep on going strong? I want to prevent before fixing.

    Thanks,
    Gabriel

Just keep doing what you're doing, sounds like you've got a good track record. You're up in the frozen tundra so I'm sure you're already doing some rust prevention measures. Don't listen to that guy #stockalot lol he's itching to go back to stock and trade for another stock.

OP -- Nice truck, just keep doing what you're doing. I have the same mileage as you (157,000 US miles) on my 2015 already and I expect to get at least another 150,000 miles. 300,000 on these trucks should be a realistic goal...

My ex-boss had 400,000 miles on his 2nd Gen, probably would have gotten many more out of it but it was totaled in a wreck.

That's what is awesome about Toyota. More of a chance to be totaled than die from mileage and age.

My trucks frame is in very good condtion, it saw its first salty winter last year. I buffed the frame with a wire wheel then primed and sprayed 2 layers of rocker guard. There is a bit of surface rust that came back but nothing crazy

I read somewhere a while ago that changing the water pump every 100 000 k was a good idea. I mean every single pulley bearing went bad other than alternator and water pump. So maybe it would be safe to change it ?

My '05 is closing in on 450,000 km and still on the original water pump. All of my pumps are original for that matter.

Its just too hard to believe haha my boss and his two sons drive 2014 to 2017 gmc sierra denali and so far their truck together went back to the dealer over 30 times in 3 years and they baby their truck. One had 4wd failure and waterpump just exploded under 50000 km the other the a/c went fucked 2 months after purchase and the father got internal engine fail on cylinder 2 and 5 after only 15 000km. Meanwhile Im revlimiting my truck in a ditch trying to pull out my friends jeep and all is fine haha

    And This:

Oil Orifice filter things on each Cyl head that can use a cleaning.. I wouldn't mess with the VVTI valves unless you had an issue.
