I think its too soon to change the water pump. I have 225000 miles on my truck (2.7L), and we have an FJ with 250000 miles (4.0L) and theyre both on the original water pumps. Once you break 200k miles, i would consider doing it as preventative maintenance, but i dont think its necessary

Not sure why so many people say just to keep doing what your doing. It is good you have kept up on the oil changes, but by the sound of it you haven't done any other fluid changes? You may be surprised at how dirty the diff fluids are at this point if they are original. Also sounds like you tow quite a bit, so trans fluid probably isn't much better.

I would probably change the coolant as it is over 11 years old, maybe look into trans flush, diff fluids, transfer case, etc.

^^^ This is good advice that @excorcist is giving you. I'm a big advocate of fluid flushes. Power steering, brakes, transmission, diff fluid changes, and definitely coolant flush. I remember reading on here somewhere that most head gasket problems originate from a lack of coolant flushes since the coolant turns acidic after a long time and then it starts eating away at the gaskets.

As I said in a previous post I did both diff and transfercase last winter and im planning to do tranny and coolent soon. I rarely tow, I moved last year across the country so I had my two bikes, toolbox, winter tires and most of my life in the trailer. I dont baby my truck but i do try my best to keep it healthy.

    back to bone stock.
i'm just over 140,000 miles. but i have a much older truck..

i had a shop do a full flush of my tranny..and i changed my PS fluid and flushed my brakes as well.

(along with the usual suspects of diff, transfer case, etc)

 And I thought I was going at a good clip with 145K on a 2012. Can't wait to see how far you can go. There are 500K+ tacos out there..it's all in how you treat them.

I have 280k on mine so far so good. Its a 2006 btw. Only thing I've had to really change is the front wheel bearings at 250k. I haven't had to replace the water pump yet did swap out the coolant cause it was getting pretty acidic.

Yes I drive about 65,000 annually. The great thing about it is it's a company vehicle, I didn't have to pay for it. But, I baby it and hope to have it till it dies. I do all the maintenance myself and kinda anal about it.

Company vehicles are the best! Glad to hear you treat it like your own.

Why don't Canadians use KPL's instead of MPG's? Serious question.

Isn’t he the guy who decided for all of us tacoma owners that we dont need rear disc brakes?
