I like mine with 285/70/17 on a 3" lift. I have not trimmed anything and rub nothing. I do offroad a fair amount too. image.jpg image.jpg

They look very nice. Do you have a full sized spare underneath?

I would simply be reasonable. A couple of years ago, my son bought a dodge ram with the long bed and a v6 (reg cab). Used. Someone had put ginormous tires on the stock wheels. Gas mileage was terrible. Truck was a manual and it could not stand 4-5th in the hills around Birmingham. Miserable to drive. Etc. When the tires eventually wore out, we replaced with stock sized tires. What a difference. Certainly looked odd compared to the big tires that were on it, but now cruise control worked, 5th gear could maintain freeway speed easily, and gas mileage jumped by 33% or better.

Looks are one thing. But operating costs and operational behavior are more important to some of us. Too easy to turn a good truck into a dog. Tires are a good starting point if you go overboard.

Of course, if all you care about are looks... that's how my wife picks out her new cars...

Interestingly , the 34x10.5x17 KO2 are actually lighter than my 275/70/17 ATms

Might have just sealed the deal

    Many & varied
Before I swapped stock tires & wheels. I kept my tire PSI on the higher side, didn't lug around a bunch of stuff in the backseat or bed, I didn't jack rabbit green lights. I coasted often, timed lights, hadn't bolted a bunch of stuff to the truck, magnaflow exhaust, Volant CAI. My best ranges were 419 & 421 while chatting my mileage.

I was running 35 psi and carrying nothing but ratchet straps and bungee cords as extras. Maybe it was my commute. Crazy.

Bout the TRD trail team anthrocites today. Anything to be aware of when fitting 285's on those?

Hope you're saving up for gears to accommodate the 285's.

Won't need gear change.....Very common to see 285's with stock gearing. Not an issue

Got my 285/70/17 Duratrac under the bed without cutting anything except the exhaust to dump right after the axel. Just used a BFH to move the tire guides an inch or so open and a crowbar to move the furthest rest exhaust hanger (not being used since dumped the exhaust after axel) out a tad.

It's under there nice and snug with no clearance issues.

Agreed, it's not much of an issue. As much extra weight as I have and it'll only drop out of OD going up an overpass but it is noticeably more sluggish but not something you can't live with unless you're a leadfoot.

Regardless, mine is getting regeared when the lockers go in.
