Can anyone tell me if you can use a factory traction control switch for the switch in this mod? I'm thinking about buying one to keep the dash looking stock. I think it is part # 8498804050. They are $50.00 bucks, but I like the dash to look stock.

    Thanks, don.

Just did this Mod over the weekend. Very easy to do. Wondering if the truck can be moving when I disable the ABS or do I have to be stopped ? Any help is appreciated.

I just did the ABS switch mod on my 2013 Tacoma TRD offroad and it works awesome. I was testing it out in the snow and tried to put the truck into a side and the ABS kicked in then mid side I flipped the switch and the ABS instantly turned off and allowed me to side!!! By doing this mod you will have so much more control over truck. THIS MOD IS A WINNER IN MY BOOK!!!!

^ So glad it helped you. I agree. It gives you control and in snow is where I needed it most. :D Welcome to the forum.

I just bought a '13 Baja with all the electronic buttons but if I try to play in the sand with track/VSC off the truck seems to still nanny me. Would this mod fix this?

Will this mod allow the locker to be engaged in 2wd if it's already fooling the ECU to think the truck is in 4lo? Or is the locker engagement controlled by other safety mechanisms? I've read over the "Alt Diff Lock Mod" thread on toyota nation and it seems like I might have to do both mods, but wanted to ask if anyone had tried the locker with the ABS killed. Thanks

I drive a 2010 TRD Tacoma, and the ABS is straight up dangerous. It does not work. I don't want to get into an argument about my driving skills, or logistics of how ABS is "supposed" to work. I'm a good driver, and I'm on my 3rd Tacoma. This 2010 has the worst electronic features, and they are clearly designed for people who do not know how to drive and just panic behind the wheel when things go bad. I can't pull my snowmobile trailer without being in constant fear that I won't be able to stop.

I've read a hundred disable mods, manuals, etc. After doing lots of research, I learned that most of the disable mods involve "tricking" the truck into thinking its not sliding, or telling it its in 4low, etc..

Just out of curiosity, I disabled the trucks ability to receive information from the wheels by simply unplugging one of the wheel sensors. Does anyone on here have any experience, or information about doing this that would be helpful to know?

Thanks in advance for any HELPFUL information!

Agree ABS sucks but unplugging the/a wheel sensors will stop other data from being collected for other processes, such as ATRAC to name one. Are you trying to disable all features? If so should have bought a 1st gen :p.

Welcome to the TW community.

People have discovered years ago that unplugging the wheel speed sensor creates a fault in the system. As such when a malfunction occurs the skid control ECU (brain), disables ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, TRAC, VSC, and Auto LSD. Your dash gauge cluster also fills with lots of illuminated lamps.

So, yeah you got what you wanted, but as DoorDing wrote, there are better ways to accomplish what your doing then unplugging the wheel speed sensor.

Thanks guys, I had a first gen with 285k on it, and it ran like a tank up until I traded it for my 2010. I really just want my new one to drive like my old one! I actually do prefer to have all of the features turned off. There is snow on the ground 9 months a year where I live(11,000') and if I forget to disable trac control when I leave my house I end up getting stuck when it kicks in. Too bad you have to be in park to activate it.

Thanks for the helpful information. I'm going to try that simple mod that Crom posted with pics.
