This came on for 20 minutes and went away on its own the other day, now it’s back.

any suggestions on how to fix this? Is it still safe to drive?
    Thanks

Take it to the dealer . Or a reputable shop to properly diagnose .you don’t want to spend a bunch of money on stuff just to find our that wasn’t the problem .Best of luck .

    Need code(s)...
If you don't have a scan tool, you can do a 'manual' diagnostic.

It looks like you took the spindles off a few weeks ago, so backtrack there, recheck all wires, especially wheel speed.
It also looks like you may have created other electrical gremlins by messing with taillights. Recheck those too.

Yes, scan the code, address the issue. It's 2020.

Now you have an idea. The trouble shooting in the FSM seems to think this is more likely triggered by the stop light switch circuit rather than the master cylinder pressure sensor circuit.

If it was me, I would hook up techstream and check function of master cylinder pressure sensor checking that it reads <0.86 V with brake pedal not pressed and increases in voltage as the brake pedal is applied. I would then check that the stop light switch is off with the brake pedal not pressed and that the brake light switch comes on with the pedal depressed.

If all this checks out I would clear this particular code, confirm truck brakes normally, the brake lights function, and not investigate further unless it re-triggers.

If it triggers again you need to determine if the stop light switch isn't coming on when you press the brake pedal or if the master cylinder pressure sensor reads high with the brakes not applied.

    thanks for the info!

The “stop” fuse has a 7.5 amp instead of a 10. Should I replace it with a 10 a ? Think this could be the issue?

    thanks.

It could be the issue if it's blown.

It's also possible the brakes were slightly applied for 5 seconds just enough to get pressure in master cylinder elevated but not enough to trigger the stop light switch at the pedal. This is just one possibility.

My vote, check that brake lights function as step 1...
I had a very similar code from an intermittent brake light switch on Subaru...

I have a spare brake light switch brand new. Should I just replace it?

the old one had issues before. I installed these winjet tail lights a few months ago and they shorted some fuses it costed me 500 dollars in repairs.

I adjusted the brake light switch and the abs light is gone. Turns out it was pushed in too far.

    I fixed this gap.
