i have a 2003 tacoma with the 3.4l v6. today is the first day i used the air conditioning a lot and when i got home i heard what sounded like a drop of water hitting the muffler. it would happen about every 5-6 seconds.

i assume this is just condensation from the ac dripping on the muffler. is the ac unit directly above the muffler on the 3.4l engine? thanks.

Uhhhh, no, it's not above. The condenser is in the engine compartment and the muffler is located under the bed. Try turning on the AC, wait a few minutes and crawl under your rig to figure out where that sound is coming from.

Maybe it's just the hot exhaust??

well, not necessarily the muffler, but it sounds like the condensation is dripping on the front part of the muffler pipe near the rear of the engine. just wondering if this is common in the 3.4l engine. my old nissan would just drip straight on the ground.

i was going to go out and check it by climbing under my truck but it started raining here and it's too wet outside.

So you're talking about your catalytic converter? Yea I think it's just from that. Normal.
