if it is a new sealed bearing it may not spin freely at first because the grease is causing resistance.

clarify what you mean by "pulley does not spin easily" do you feel resistance or does it just not spin free?

does it spin easier with it in you hand and not bolted on? are you sure you put everything (washers, spacers) back on in the correct order?

did you replace the bearing correctly? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77jGmifJgfM

Well I had a spare ac compressor with a good bearing...so I removed the pulley and swapped it ino my other conpressor (the one with the good bearing screeched when turned on but the pulley spun way smoother. When I re installed it I tightened the center bolt but didn't look like it was all the way on...so I lightly tapped it with a mallet and then the bolt was loose so I tightened it more and then the pulley has a ton of resistance now when it spun smooth and fast before @keakar

I thought you were talking about the idler pulley not the clutch bearing but it sounds like you messed up the bearing when you tightened it down more.

not to mean you did anything wrong but maybe it was just unable to handle the pressure of being tightened

looks like you need to buy a brand new bearing and or clutch for it

Come to think of it I might have forgotten the washer between the clutch and the pulley

Yeah, when you press on the pulley you have to have the washer in the back, and there is also a specific gap you have to have. I don't recall the specifications. Check to be sure you have the washer installed.

when you tightened it down without the washer there, you may have shifted the bearing position or distorted it somehow. take it off and see if it spins free, if it does, gently tap it back into place and try it again with the washer this time
