I've been doing quite a bit of reading up on this and it appears to be a very common issue with Tacomas unfortunately, especially after installing a lift. I have about a 1.75 - 2" lift on my truck, and the truck shudders some when accelerating (Generally under 20 mph) and sometimes it's noticable when slowing down also. I was think about changing out the ECGS bushing, and maybe adding 2 degree shims as well. My question is do I need to do a diff drop also, or is it possible to overcorrect the issue of angle adjustment? Also, I have read where some people simply torque down their U-bolts a bit tighter and that resolved some vibrations too. What about adding an additional clamp in front of the U-bolt? Thanks guys for any help. I'm trying to avoid spending more than I need to, but also don't want to go too far with it and overcorrect.

Sounds like shims would be your best bet. Carrier bearing drop could maybe help. ECGS almost certainly wont do anything for your current problem but will likely be needed eventually.

I wouldn't do anything to the u bolts, shim the center bearing and dbbl check the pinion angle. it should be pretty close to a straight line with the drive shaft. and just a note: because you lifted it, it will feel different than before, there is no way around that but it doesn't mean that it's a problem, it just feels different is all.

Just had the same issue on 2016 stock Tacoma, brought to Toyota, tranny flush "solved the problem" for now I guess. A buddies truck same issue and Toyota replaced the torque converter.... that included new fluids. both our trucks between 1 - 2 k rpm and 20 - 30 mph. Kinda feels like hitting a rumble strip. check it out around 40-50 after a shift with mild acceleration. also when I kept the rpms above 2k I rarely experienced the shudder. Let me know how it works out for you. this started around 105k miles.

I have a similar thing on my 2nd gen. Ive learned to live with it for now. I had the transmission replaced a couple months after I got it with a used unit. I did notice the shutter and went back to the shop that did the work, they said it was likely my tires causing the vibration. But I'm not so sure about that. It was recommended that I shim as well. I do notice the vibration a lot when towing but under normal driving conditions I just ease into the gas until I hit second gear.
