The same shit everyone else has.
How many of you guys have awnings on your access cab trucks?

I wanna add an awning for camping - specifically an 8'x8' awning.

I have a roof rack (Rhino Rack) on my truck, but no bed rack (probably not adding one any time soon due to cost). The spacing between the load bars is roughly 3ft, which would leave about 5ft of unsupported weight hanging off the rack.

I dont like the idea of that much of the awning hanging off the rack. Seems like a lot of unsupported weight bouncing around.

    Thoughts, suggestions, ect?

Pretty sure that's not a good idea. If you have a specific awning in mind, try to Google the installation instructions. They usually tell you what the maximum unsupported length is. For example, ARB 2500 awning (which is roughly 8') has a maximum of 700mm (roughly 27") overhang (see step 3):

Although, I guess if you centered it, you might be OK. Would look a bit odd, but it would fall within the specifications.
