Not exactly, they tried to make it more like the double cab seats but failed........and fucked up the practical usefulness of the way it was in the earlier model access cabs.

Great job. I was waiting for some warmer weather to make one for my '01.
I can't get my dog to ride in the bed down the driveway.

I have to warn you, now that you put the Toyota logo on there will be a TSB on it...

    WOW, Thanks!
I was thinking of doing something just like this and there you go -- you give us the measurements and pictures and everything. So my Bernese Mt. Dog will be riding with me again soon enough!

I love the idea! Can you share some details? I would love to do the same for my dog in my truck.

It's nowhere near as awesome as BSP4x4's platform, but it sure was easy.

All I did was buy some indoor/outdoor carpet at Lowes and fastened it to the back of the double cab seats using self-tapping screws. No more sliding dog!

Yup - who ever signed off on the changes should be made the scape goat for the unintended acceleration issues and fired! Functionality of the access cab has been decreased by about 90%.

I really need to do something like this for my DC. my dog gets my rear seats so dirty. I refuse to make her ride in the bed. I have a tonneau anyways. Not sure about the folding down idea. dont really want her having access to my radio gear in the cubby.

Your idea inspired me to create something of my own. I was never very satisfied with how my 06 access seats would fold down, was never very comfy for my dog, nor did I like her getting mud on the back of the seats. Using 1/2 inch press board (free scrap from Lowes) a 2x3 and some auto carpet I created this!

I messed up in a few places, first time always has some goofs, carpet in the corners isnt cut very well and some spray got a little loose in the "OY," and the font wasnt bold (my stupid mistake) but apart from that, my 75 lb retriever loves it! she actully looks small laying down on it, and is much more content to ride there now. It makes carrying larger boxes, groceries exc much easier as well w/o stuff rolling around on the seats.

it rides tight and doesnt rattle or make any noises as im driving around, and is simple to get in and out!

if I make another, i can guarentee it will be a much more... finished product, as always the 2nd gens are:p

sorry for the snow in the photos, thanks for any feedback:)

I just cut a piece of carpet to go across the back of the seats and then put dog beds in there. No slipping and plenty cushy for long trips. And beds won't be forgotten (again)

I thought about that, but I wanted to add a slope back towards the back of the seat because stuff still would roll forward, even with a slight break, so I added some slope back towards, and to be honest I was bored and lookin for a project that might be interesting, even with the flaws, im pretty happy with the results.

Best mod I have seen, you should sell the idea to Toyota as an option, wonderful option with or without a dog, I just wish I could get rid of those dam headrests, ( I think you could sell a bunch of them!!) Doc

These are great ideas and pics in use and not. I don't have a pooch these days so I don't need it for that, really don't need it at all since I converted to a pre-09 backseat. The headrests in the 09 aren't that hard to remove once that damn subwoofer is out.

Thanks, and very interesting, I am going to dig into those headrests as soon as I find the time, I don't think they are necessary!! and get in my way, I am also going to look at a pre-09 back seat, that might be the best idea, I am not sure just where to look but I am sure they are out there.

I this a pretty straight forward change out? Thanks again Doc

Fairly straight change over. There are some gaps in the carpet. The ones where the small center console will hopefully be covered up by the 08 weathertechs I recently ordered.

Here's a link to a TW thread and in that there is a link to a Toyota Nation thread. Lots of good info out there if you do a search. I found some of the pertinent threads. May be redundant but good info all around.
