My 2016 Access cab developed a drivers side rear door rattle @6k miles. I could open the front door, push on the read door and make it rattle. Drivers side only. Took it back to the dealer. They shimmed the rear door, it doesn't rattle, but now the top rear of the front door rattles. It seems like they knocked the alignment of the two doors out when the shimmed the rear door. Anyone else have door rattle issues? The truck goes back in on Friday....we'll see

I have the same issue on my 2016 access cab TRD off road. I swear the thing rattles from everywhere! I'm honestly starting to hate the truck just because of it. The front windows rattle when rolled half way down, i have the rear access cab door rattling over every single bump or crack in the road. I can replicate the noise by pushing on the plastic where the door panel meets to the weather stripping. My rear drivers side leaf spring is also squeaking VERY bad, just started this at 7k miles. I have 8k on it now. I have been dreading bringing it to the dealership because if they screw me around I will trade it in. I know i saved a long time for this truck and it's discouraging to say the least when you have these issues before the first year of payments is done. I was expecting better from Toyota.

I thought I was the only one having this issue. I have a rattle/tick right in my left ear coming from where both doors meet. It's done it since it was brand new and I can't enjoy my truck for listening to it. If it's the same noise, it's seems like its coming from the weatherstriping. Took to the Dealer and they "adjusted" the door striker(see below picture Ha). Tightened up the door but didn't help. The only thing I've found that gives me temporarily relief is applying Sil Glyde from NAPA to the weatherstriping. Lasts only a few months but makes the rattle/tick go away. Hope this helps.

I had this exact problem on my 2015, they had to order some different strikers that had more adjustment which took a long time, I ended up wrapping some masking tape on the upper and lower strikers themselves where the door latch made contact and that silenced it for the most part.

Enjoy. It only gets worse with age. I love my AC, but damnit, I miss the relative silence of my DC.

That's not very encouraging. I'm not sure mine is from the striker or can be taped. It seems to do it even touching the plastic panel, its like a quick high pitched squeak. My weatherstripping was also making a "crinkling" sound but I think i temporarily fixed that with silicone lube on the weatherstripping. I think I made mistake buying the AC tbh.. I've always had reg. cab trucks and never had an issue.

I can't find the thread, but I thought there was a wire harness/ plug that was causing the rattle.

I've had it with mine, and I'm about to pull the panel. It's for sure not the latches, mine is a definite plastic on plastic rattle.

I wondered if these doors would rattle when I 1st looked at my truck back back in 2015. If mine starts rattling it will be in someone else driveway. I had a van once that the doors rattled in and I was never so happy to trade that sucker off...

Yeah, I live on a slightly rought road, so the first and last 5min of everyday is spent listening to this rattle.

Today I was punching the door panel while driving, and it made no difference.

When mine was coming from the latch and striker it was more than a rattle, it was a loud banging or knocking sound, not pleasant at all.

We have the plastic on plastic rattle in our AC doors...both sides. Just loud enough to be annoying as its right about ear level.
Any one pop these panels off yet and see whats rattling?

Nope I just crank up the volume to 61. Lol.

I'll get around to it when I sound proof the truck. I came from a 01 1st gen so a couple rattles are nothing to me. When I first got into my 3rd gen it was Mercedes quality to me honestly. I've never daily driven anything so nice with minimal road noise so it doesn't bother me as much personally.

Mine has developed a rattle / squeak in the rear drivers-side AC door. I can stop it by pushing on the top of the interior trim while driving. Knocking / tapping / pushing on the interior trim while opened makes it happen and seems to be centered near the top of speaker grille.

Since it seems to be the trim, I don't want to mess with the striker yet. Does anyone have instructions for pulling the trim? I see a plastic fastener up top, a torx in the handle at the bottom of the window, and one behind the door lever. Any others?

    Thanks!

BTW, I can hear it over the radio no matter what volume. It is worse with a good bass riff.

I found the answer in this helpful little vid:

I would have missed the lower seat belt bolt.

Looking at what is underneath near the speaker, I have no idea what could be making the noise. I might just need to wad something in there.

Just as info the striker latches, top pick in the thread, are NOT adjustable. Pull one off, you'll see, I have. Re tape on the striker latches, I tried that and it worked. As a perm solution I took light thin gauge steel and rapped it around the latch (off the truck, in my garage). Took a lot of time but it's permanent. I did't have a rattle but I did have excessive wind noise from the door seals. This helped quite a bit, a tighter door that it.
