Access Cab owners, ever regret not getting a DC?

So, I'm doing my research before buying a new (or Gen 2 which I like very much) Tacoma. I've made a couple threads here with some different questions and I just thought of another.

I could get by with an access cab because I rarely have more than one passenger, but I wanted to hear from some AC owners, ever wish you went with the DC instead?

    Thanks,

Not at all. The rear seat area is really small so you would only be able to have small children back there for any length of time. It would be a very uncomfortable fit for an adult. I even found someone that had the rear seat delete kit and swapped rear stuff to get rid of my seats. I have extra room behind the front seats and a long bed for more stuff.

I do on occasion, to be honest. I have a 12 year old and it's perfect for the two of us. When her Mother feels like playing family, I wish I had the D/C. Other than that, I love the A/C. Only problem- and something I didn't think of- is loading the back in a parking lot- loading groceries for instance in a tight spot. You need to open the front, then the back, then close the front, then wiggle by, then load, then do it backwards. It can get a bit tight, especially in the rain, seems to take a lot longer.

From time to time I wonder if I should have gone the D.C. route, but whenever I look at it as I'm walking toward it I know I made the right choice. It's a great combination of looks and usable space, both in the cab and in the bed.

nope, I am happy with my AC but it is just me the majority of the time or one other. I looked at DC's when I was looking for a new truck but really didn't have a reason to get one.

Once you have a DC, you'll never want an AC. For me, to place items in the back it's nice to just open one door instead of 2 to get into the back.

I'd never want an AC now, YMMV though.

I've had a 06 DC or crew cab Frontier and Ram and love me current AC. The bed lenght is perfect and you can still park it relatively easily. I'm a tall guy so unless I'm in a crew max Tundra no one is sitting behind regardless of what I am driving. Yes loading groceries can get a little awkward but it's not bad. I wouldn't trade my truck for a DC IIke the wheelbase and bed lenght too much. The DCLBs are just too long.

    Not Enough.
Being a 6' 2" pretty hefty fella, all of my trucks have always been extended cab. Never owned a full 4 door. It's just me and my little hound dog, no kids or girlfriend/wife, and rarely come across the need for anyone to sit in the back. And if/when I do, they know what they're getting themselves into. So I'd rather have the bed space because it's what I'm used to.

If I would have found the same deal on a truck in a DCLB I probably would have considered it as well, but I do prefer the shorter wheelbase.

Mine is also an '08 so my jump seats fold forward and give me a flat floor back there which is awesome and the dog loves it. I didn't have to build a platform for her to ride on so I consider that a win.

In the end, I say drive them both and see which you like better. If everyone needed the same thing, there wouldn't be so many different configurations.

I had an AC. Loved it. But having two kids I had to get a DC. I'm sure two kids fit in an AC but it's easier for me with the DC. It does suck having a 5ft bed but I make it work.

Lift? Yea I got one of those
Sometimes I do think about it, but really it's just me driving so I don't have much of a reason for the extra room. And its a good excuse of not having to drive around more people.

Today I am going to try and trade my 2010 access cab in for a 2015 double cab. Have a baby due on the 26th seems like nows the time.

Nope. But it's just the wife and I and occasionally a couple of still on the small side grands. Mostly it's just me or a bike/fishing buddy.

We have a CUV when we want to haul more people or enclosed stuff.

    1) wanted the cab space to secure some gear, didn't want a topper.

    2) didn't want an even larger truck

    3) agree the suicide door can be annoying to maneuver in a tight space. But it's an occasional grocery getter, not a regular.

    4) if you reguarly have a 3 full size passenger, it's inadequate

+1 - I load my groceries into the truck bed (netting hung between the bed rails), and I almost NEVER park between two other vehicles, so opening two doors is never an issue. (the longer walk, to keep from parking between cars, to wherever I need to go, hasn't put me down yet)

If there's any doubt....just get the the DC. It really is nice to be able to carry 3 or 4 people and even 5 in a pinch in comfort. I'm an honest 6 ft tall and with the front seats all the way back I can comfortable sit in the rear. And these's no comparison in the comfort level of the rear seats of the DC compared to the rear jump seats in the AC

No regrets on the AC. I jumped from many regular cab models which I owned over many years to a DC - for me, didn't need it at all. Went back to AC and love it. It's my truck and I use it to drive to work or if I need to haul stuff in the bed. If I want to haul more people around we can take one of the other vehicles. Think about it and choose what you feel will work for you and your future.

No regrets here, but its just me and I wanted the bed space. Had a '10 DC and never used the back seat. I don't have a problem getting groceries out, I usually part away from everybody and enjoy the long walk to the entrance. The biggest thing that annoyed me about the DC is not having the suicide doors. For some reason it annoyed me every time I had to put something in or out of the back seat. I would think; "if I would've gotten the AC, I wouldn't be putting up with this crap now", so I got an AC and love it.

Ive had some big fellas in the backseat for short rides and they didn't seem to mind it, but I don't think they would've lasted more than 30 mins.

    I love my AC
    Pros:
6ft bed for hauling motorcycles, truck camping under the leer 180.
    Still easy to park.
    Best looking Taco configuration
    imo.
Don't have to haul people around.
More dry storage than a reg cab.
    Good spot for the dog.
Can still reach the rear sliding window from drivers seat.
    Seats recline nicely.
    Heats/cools quickly.

    Cons:
They call it a jump seat because you want to jump out the window after 5 miles.
Rear windows don't open on 2nd gen.
    Car seat ain't happening.
Suicide doors can suck if people suck at parking.
    Dog farts in confined space.

I'm still glad I got the AC
