How much better are they than the previous reflector headlights? Tacoma owners have been longing for real headlights since day one, and now we finally have them.

The projectors in my 4Runner were really dim (to me), so I put an HID kit from XenonDepot in them. What a world of difference!!

This is the kit that I got: http://www.xenondepot.com/H11-HID-Kit-Xtreme-HID-p/xt-h11.htm

They are a million times better than the Lifetime LED's that I put in my Tacoma's reflector housing.

Can anyone confirm that the 2016 Tacoma uses an H11 low beam bulb?

I had some Lifetime LED's and finally sent them back for a refund, I then switched to VLEDS which were 100% better.

I had a 2014 Rogue that had factory LED Headlights and they were sweet, a lot brighter and cleaner light than the HIDs I have had experience with.

Will definately be looking at VLEDS to upgrade the projector halogens in the Tacoma, my brother has factory projector halogens in his truck and he is always bitching about them.

Were the factory bulbs sort of dim?

    - H11 on the low beams.

    - Projector beams on the new Tacoma are dim (tried them last night at a dealer)

    - Xenon Depot kits with Phillips bulbs are great. I have 3 cars with these kits in place for over 4 years and I have experienced zero issues.

Are these aftermarket bulbs blinding? I hate being blinded by UFO lights on the freeway. They should get their eyes check instead of buying brighter bulbs.

HID bulbs in projector housings aren't an issue. It's when people put them in reflector housings that they become blinding.

Yeah if you are blinded, you can tell they either didn't know what they were doing or cheaped out. Ricey shit.

Is it hard to install this kit? You have to rerun the harness? Is it super tight in the 2016? I had Xenon lights on my last car and there is no going back... I can't live like that!

Check out this post. I have only upgraded one car so far to HID lights and love every second of it but I also did a stage 3 morimoto bi-xenon upgrade. I had to cook my lights in an oven and use a dremel to cut the back of my reflectors so there is no going back for me either. I don't regret it for a second and probably will do it for this truck as well. Not sure if will be able to afford $400 headlights again though. May be looking for alternatives.

Thanks for the info. I am sure someone will do it before me as mine still isn't built. I think it's funny that you took off some panels to sort of look around. Your truck looks great. Great write up in that thread!

The Xenondepot kits are really nice. Installation is straightforward. Set aside 90 minutes and just go through it step by step.

On the Tacoma, you might have to move the windshield washer fluid tank and the battery. Both of these things are super easy to move. All you need is a 10mm socket and an extension.

The difference in light output is well worth it.

You can get 4300K, but I got 5000K for a true white light. Anything higher than 5000K gets you a one way ticket to Riceville.

I didn't write this up, still waiting for my truck, but I have been following it. I figured it would answer some of your questions better than I could.

If I do plan on getting a 3rd gen, I'll definitely swap out the oem projectors for a tuned rx350
