This is BOGUS info, at least as far as the Subaru system is concerned! There is nothing in the bumpers on the Subies!! Buried in the rear quarter panels (away from Bumper --there is a radar sensor to warn one of a approaching vehicle (or a walking person) when backing out of a parking spot where your vision may be blocked by a larger vehicle or whatever! Super helpful in crowded parking lots BTW!
Your input my friend is WRONG and NOT TRUE

Same here, I would love to see a manual shifted transfer case over the electronic switch!

When I sold my 1987 60 series land cruiser with 225k miles to get a 2001 LX470 all my land cruiser buddies said the 100 series sucks because of alll the tech and it would leave me stranded

After 190k trouble free miles on that I moved to the 200 series. Now people said 200 would be trouble some with all gadgets and not as reliable as a 100.

I am on my second 200 series and they have been bulletproof even with all the tech ...

in my experience you never expect anythign to stop working. It just sucks if it does. granted Toyota systems are still less overengineered and complicated than VW/German stuff, which is what I work on for a living.

I just saw a Toyota commercial on TV that stated now 6 THATS SIX --=new 17 Toyotas have standard lane departure warning systems built in --STANDARD!!
Cameras are here friends --like it or not, as that is probably how they sense the lane markings.

It's amazing what technology can do nowadays. A few days ago I learned about how rain sensing wipers work. blew my mind

I just like a bunch of stuff regarding keeping it simple and manual transmissions and such. HOWEVER, I have to be honest and say that I thought reverse cameras were fluff.....until I had one. Backing the ball up directly under the hitch the first time with no one to guide is awesome. I would miss a back-up camera now.

The BSM on my Mazda was nearly worthless though. Most were false alarms. Some, I already knew the vehicle was there. meh.

    Interesting

I had a rental Mazda 6 and it was flawless. The headlights which steered worked great too, on this cheap econobox.

    On par with a E300 2017 Benz

The adaptive CC on the Subaru is controlled by a combination of the 2 camera (upper windshield area) and the cars computer which in turn controls the engine and the braking functions in case of a emergency-- also the following distance --speed for cruise functions etc. etc. THE SUBARU HAS NO sensors in the bumpers for the cruise PERIOD -- dam I own one, and my insurance rates went down from a 8 yo CRV to the NEW SUBARU
Maybe some European cars do it with radar in the bumpers -- SUBARU DOES NOT
Oh and BTW --you can buy this system on some Subies for under 30k -way under

must be a subaru thing then. My experience with German vehicles, they use radar mounted in the bumper for long range, short range uses a camera in the mirror. if you change the alignment or remove the bumper and don't readapt the cruise control (done via alignment machine and scan tool) you get fault codes

Can't stand that system in my civic. Not sure how it is in the Toyota but I have taken my car in several times because it doesn't sense right. Prefer that system to be kept manual.

not sure how it works on a honda. with VW it uses two lasers that reflect off the glass back to the sensor on the mirror. if the reflection is off because of the water refracting it, it turns the wipers on.

I suppose if it saved me once, it was worth it. Just sort of annoying. This was a CX5. I'd hardly call a 6 an econobox! The 2 is an econobox!

This has got to be a joke, the Taco is arguably the least equipped vehicle Toyota offers. My buddy has a $15k Toyota iM with power folding mirrors & a beautiful modern digital climate control center. The Taco will always be the last adapter of Toyota tech, its their cash cow & why should they spend more on a truck that will still sell without it?
