I have a 2005 Tacoma, factory non JBL 6 disk changer. I’d like to add a 3.5mm input so I can run my MP3 player through the car stereo. I have one of those FM transmitters, but the quality can be spotty and the cords and extra unit is annoying to deal with. What would it take to add one?

Note: I posted another thread about replacement of the radio, I’m considering this at a minimum, or possible a new stereo with more toys.

USA-spec makes a nice unit. Plugs into the back of the stereo and allows you to control the Ipod from the stereo controls. You can then run the wires for the Ipod connection wherever you wish (center consol, glove box, etc)

USA-Spec DF-Toy is another option if you can still find it. It was discontinued some time ago. I got one off eBay but it was DOA. Many here I think have units from Metra...

This works with my stereo? Do i have the RCA inputs or a CD changer port? My CD changer is the in dash one.

Compatibility & Notes: [All requirements must be met for this part to work]
    1. Compatible with any factory (OEM) radio that has RCA audio inputs or CD Changer port [an auxiliary input adapter is required for radios with CD Changer port].
