I know people who always refuel with the engine running whether it's from a tank in the bed of another truck or a station, all of the officers I know don't shut off while refueling. None of these people have had issues caused by this.

 

Same here. Im actually fueling my excavator while the pickup and machine are running as I type this post on my cell phone. Also smoking a cig simultaneously.

 

If you could fill slow enough with the motor running, you could never leave the gas station.

I never said I didnt have a fire bottle nearby...but you know how many planes caught on fire at the refuel source? or while I was refueling? zero...I helped put out a fire on an APU after the fact but it wasnt refuel problems but a cracked fuel nozzle that was leaking on hot exhaust turbine. or in other words material failure caused the fire not the fact that there was an engine running while refueling.
