has anyone added the dealership option to get leather put in on a model other than a limited?
im contemplating adding it to my TRD OR coming in on the 25th i figured it would be a good option with a dog and eventually kids in the truck just wondering if anyone has added it and how the leather looks. dealership told me its a $1000 option to add it

    Dealership options vary by dealership.

Who knows what kit they're using. The dealership across town could have a leather option also and be a totally different product. My dealership leather may have absolutely nothing in common with yours.

My dealer told me it wasn't worth it because they don't use real leather in Tacos. They use some kind of a leatherette product, which isn't worth the price of the upgrade. You are better off getting fancy seat covers for half the money.

Katzkin Leather is what a big dealer here uses. They advertise it throughout the showroom.

I Just ordered and installed CoverKing leather covers yesterday in the cold.... They will look better as time goes on and the heat smoothes them out. For $200 I cannot see spending over $1000.

These should smooth out when the weather gets hot again and I can stretch the material more.. Only ordered fronts for now.

Pic posted. I have not done the backs yet but the NeoSupreme was ok with back seats down. My back seats are down 99% of the time but I will still be buying the rears in leather when the weather warms up. They were find with the NeoSupremes.

Dealer's wrong, it's leather. Gen 2 LTD had SofTex, which looks and feels like leather, but is synthetic. Had it in my '13 LTD and I liked it, it's more durable than the leather and easier to keep clean. Have leather in my '16 LTD, and you're right, only available in the Limited. Saying that, I've seen some very nice aftermarket leather interiors on some threads.

Aren't the Limited leather seats only available in one color? I thought it was a dark brownish?

Correct, one colour only, they call it Hickory, it's brown. I'll admit, it looked a little odd at first but grew on me quickly. My 18 year old daughter said "IT'S BROWN" the first time she saw it, but next time she was in it she said she liked it. Anyway, in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Those $200 Coverking leather look like crap and warmer weather won't make them look better. Leather you pay for, you don't get a $200 set and think you fooled everybody else.

A good set of aftermarket FULL leather front seats, not vinyl trim and backs you're at $1100.

    X2.

They fit poorly as shown in that pic. For $200 that isn't shabby, but not at all comparable to even a $600 set, let alone $1k.

The wrinkles will smooth out, sure.. but the "fit my seat like a plastic bag" fitment is not going to change.

Basic Katzkin is leather seat and seat back, the rest is vinyl stitched to the leather. It's actually not a bad deal since it all cleans easily. Better than cloth which stains and holds stink. Full leather for the entire front seats is up about $1100. The rear Katzkins are the same, seat area leather, trim vinyl, full leather I don't think is available. Full leather is expensive.

Thanks for expounding on what is meant by 'basic'.
I think the full-custom premium Katzkins I priced were $1550 front & rear(CanadaSeatSkins); like the ones on pages 27-28 in the Katzkin pdf, but with 4 logos.

One of our customers came in with these on his f150. They definitely shrink up and tighten up and they look almost identical to aftermarket leathers from a few feet away. I was really impressed. And this picture isn't doing them justice. These were tighter then a lot of the leathers I have installed even steaming them. Even if you get Katzkins at a jobber price, most people aren't able to install them, themselves. Where these you easily can.
