TT7971_alt2.jpg TT7971_alt4.jpg hello everyone, just a quick question hopefully to generate some conversation that will help guide me in my buying process. The above bumper is from addicted desert designs and im wondering what pros and cons you may see right off the bat looking at this. I really like the slim look of this and how its flush with the front of the truck. For people with armor or this particular bumper, What do you like or don't like? Do you think this would provide adequate protection? I also like the aggressive look from the front and it looks like its got some pretty high clearance...
Anyways any opinions or pros and cons you can think of would be awesome. Thanks!

My personal opinion is that it makes the truck look it has a overbite, it also looks like you lost your bumper in a crash and was too cheap to replace it so there is just the inner structure of the bumper there.

I feel like there is too much unprotected in there for cases where a short angled bumper would be useful.

Its like the extreme other side of the fab fours massive chin bumper.

** my opinion is worthless here though because its not my truck its going on.

Lol its a $1700 bumper so its not exactly cheap lol, but I see your side of it sure! It kinda does look a little funky but the bumpers that stick out with the hoop and all that, idk I can decide if I like how far it sticks out. Maybe its cuz I've got a small ass garage and I dont think I'd fit with a big bumper lol

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I see way too much of the front suspension components exposed to direct sandblasting from road debris.

Aside from that, I think it's ugly.

I think it looks good but $1700 is insane for a bumper. My metal smittybilt bumper for my Jeep Wrangler was $350 shipped and lasted me almost 10 years on two different jeeps so i couldnt justify spending 5x that price on any bumper

IMO looks sick. Personally I don’t need it on my truck. Definitely looks nice though.

Too many mods and I haven't even started yet..
I like the low profile at the fenders.
I don't like how it lacks a full front skid plate to protect the bottom of the condenser/radiator.
I like that it doesn't have a hole for a winch by default.
I don't like that it only leaves you the stock tow loop to pull the truck and doesn't add more points to hook to.
I also don't like that the front "skid plate" is at a different angle from the bumper supports, which means it'll have to take the weight before the stronger supports can help.

Overall, I think this is designed more for looks than actual off-road use. And I wouldn't drop $1700 on a part unless it serves a purpose and is the best at what it does. This is not it.

For 100% off road dune hopping, sure. For rocks and slow stuff, prob not. Lots of exposure. For any road use, F no. Can the impact sensors work with that much removed?

I never understood why anyone would want the bumper to be that high. Do you really need whole tire exposed up front?

Pros: Marginally lighter than full plate bumpers?

Cons: Zero protection to the front of the truck. The grill sticks out further than the bumper.

In my state in the winter the whole front of your truck would be sucking up slush that would then freeze overnight. Don’t even get me started on what the salt brine they put on the streets would be doing to the front part of your frame with that set up. Aside from that as was said before I don’t hate it, looks kinda Baja buggy sand runner.

From a practical standpoint the fact that it sits so flush with the front is bad. If you were to hit a tree or some other obstacle off road it's so inset that your grille is still what's going to hit first. Pointless IMO from that perspective.

I have their Honeybadger model (you can click on build link below if you wanna see pics)

I'm not a fan of this particular one. I like the prerunner look, and it is what drew me initially to ADD, but this one just doesn't do it for me.

Approach angle is what they are trying to maximize I think. That can be done while still offering some protection to the chassis from the hub height up, though.
