I understand the trouble your going through. I use to dip pretty frequently just because I enjoyed the buzz and realized I needed to stop though. So my friend that dips all the time told me if i want to quit, take a couple fat pinches of the nastiest stuff you can find and move it around in your mouth, needless to say I havnt dipped in over 3 years :yay:

over a 20 year dipper here, and haven't had one since Oct 22, 2010. Started immediately on the gum, and am still hooked on it. I chew about 4 pieces per day. Gotta be better than chewing right??? That freaking nicotine has me hooked though. In no real hurry to quit to tell you the truth. I have a very stressful job, so I am afraid I would go right back to chewing if I quit the gum.

Make sure you get the coated gum though, it tastes great. Nicorette brand in cinnamon or mint is just like regular gum with a kick. The cheap brands are not good and taste chalky...

I just quit completely about three months ago I've been chewin since I was about 15 and I'm now 31. I can't tell you thhat I don't want a chew sometimes, especially when travelling or working on something. Gum has helped me a lot.

I guess you have to want to do it. I have two little boys that I don't think need to see Dad doing that and I definetely don't want my face to fall off.

Just remember you really don't need it.

You can always bring your wife/girlfriend in on your quitting scheme. For example if you don't have a chew all week, certain favors may be performed etc....

    Good luck though

After enough years, you don't spit any more, except maybe when you are outside. I know I don't.

And it gives you a nice buzz too......

I dipped Skoal for over 12 years, but only at work or while out fishing. Never around my family.

I quit when my kids were in elementary school going thru the drug and alcohol education stuff. It got into my head and I started thinking about what their life would be like if I wasn't around when they were growing up.

Quitting was one of the hardest things I ever have done. I have been told that quitting any type of tobacco you chew is harder than smoking because you are constantly getting the nicotine while it's in your mouth. While smoking you only get the nicotine when you inhale.

    Good luck with your quest.
