I noticed in my bed a yellow sticker that warns the owner they need to disconnect the wire feed into the tailgate for the rear backup camera before removing the tailgate. First time I actually read the sticker (figured it was just some gibberish about the bed or whatever). Then I noticed the wire going into the tailgate... My truck doesn't have the actual camera. Would it be difficult to add a Toyota camera and get it working with the head unit? Plug n' play or more to it?

You can see the sticker and the wire feed into the bottom of the tailgate.

It's easy to do. The camera is plug and play, (i bought mine from eBay) and the wires for the rearview mirror with backup screen are tucked under the headliner(on my 2010 anyway) Youtube has a good install vid

I think I found the mirror on Amazon.

Don't do the mirror thing, you have a 14, all you need is the camera for the tailgate. I added a camera to my base. Since you have an access cab you should be prewired all the way, only ones that aren't are the regular cabs. I got the Camera Source one from Amazon for about $225, mount it and plug it in and it works on your infotainment screen with no other modifications. Only thing that kinda sucks is that you have to run the wire to the harness under the bed, for whatever reason they didn't make it to plug into the harness already in the tailgate. Any way around its about a 45 minute install if you are being neat with the wiring and well worth every penny.

Ya I don't need the mirror since it'll connect with the factory head unit screen. Awesome was just looking to see if I needed to do any other wiring. Since it seems plug n play and will auto detect the camera this will go on the short list of things to do.

The camera was one of my favorite mods, and one of the few mods that I actually use every day. If you tow you will wonder how you ever backed up to a trailer without one.

Got my backup camera today! Highly recommend http://myworld.ebay.com/longriauto for these. It was cheap, $115 shipped and it seems to be a genuine Toyota part (I think the part number matches). Install was incredibly easy. No wiring, just unbolt the tailgate cover, take out the camera decoy, install new camera (just plug in existing wiring plug), put tailgate cover back on and bam, camera is ready!

    Camera out of the box:
