I have a 2014 V6 Sport with the towing package and I will be towing a U-Haul 6x12 from TX to DC 2k miles pretty close to the ~5000LB trailer limit. I was wondering if anyone has placed a trans cooler fan on the stock cooler AND if it is even necessary? The ones I looked at are like 30-40 bucks.

If you have one which one?

The trans cooler is pretty small, I don't think you could get a fan on it.

IMO, if your travelling at highway speeds the cooler will be working at max efficiency.

I figured as much its more CYA. I did about 20 seconds of googling and realized that the only time you would really need it is when you are pulling I.E. at speed. A fan will do nothing but hinder that flow that's why your...... SCRATCH That see above.... lol

Isn't the towing capacity of a tow package equipped V6 6400 lbs for automatics and 6500 lbs for manuals? Sorry I just noticed you said 5K lbs is the limit and I towed about that weight around in a TT all over last year no problem with my Tacoma. The mileage was terrible and the truck ran hard but it handled the load without any heat issues. Just tow in 4 and follow the towing bible on here and you'll be set.

On which size trailer, the biggest one they would rent my brother and I barely fit his apartment in it and we were no where close to 5 K of weight. It's a good thing too because the trailer didn't have brakes installed .

    The 6x12 enclosed: empty weight 1920lbs max load 2480lbs =4400lbs = ~5k

The dual axels are the only ones with the surge breaks. 5x10 and 6x12

Hmm, it was a dual axle. The one I had only had a four pin connector and the brakes were emergency style. I don't know if that's what you mean by surge brakes since I don't know what those are.

That's correct dual axle and 4 pin.

A surge break is a paddle that is on the backside of the trailer side hitch that gets pushed by the truck ball when the truck stops or slows down which causes the trailer breaks to be activated. I guess a better name would be "Passive Breaks"
