Absolutely too expensive. I paid $229 for my Kicker Loaded sub and $299 for the kicker 5 channel amp plus $100 for the Kicker CK4 wire kit. Forgot the 20' of speed wire and head unit adapter harness.

Yea the treble ended up being overwhelming ... which is ironic since the tweeters clearly improved things... but perhaps too much. It ended up "ear piercing" at that point. So now I am trying to balance the bass in.

Your loaded sub + amp costs as much as the JL... it isn't a terrible deal IMO. But it does carry a bit of a premium. It is about 60% cheaper than the stealth box which is just nuts. IMO

I was referring to the $950 cost of the Stealthbox

Not sure about under the seat but it does fit in the cubie behind the passenger side backseat without removing the plastic cubie or cutting anything

It should fit in the large storage cubby behind the rear passenger seat.

Ok, my amp was 2-3/8" high and I couldn't slide it under the seat or move the seat if I took out the seat to mount.

Had a full JL system in my last SUV and it was incredible - but I also spent nearly 4 grand said and done.... all comes down to what you are looking for and what you want to spend!

That being said - if you ever get to listen to a properly set up and powered JL W7, or better yet a pair - definitely take it.

Which amp are you trying to fit under the seat? I was referring to the powered RF 8" that should fit in the storage cubby. If the amp is too tall get the seat jackers from desert does it, but double check the width measurements too.

I am sure the stealth box is great... but I don't know if I need THAT much bass. I have a line on a local used one... may go that route but it's paired with a rockford fosgate 750.1 amp... and now we're talking 4 gauge wire etc etc. It’s a slippery slope. I just want more bass. But I don't need to build a full on custom system for 1000s of dollars. If I end up somewhere better can my last JBL powered Taco, I'll be happy.

I've got the JL Stealthbox with the Kicker Key 500.1 (300w rms @ 2ohms). It's very clean with the DSP, but I don't think the bass is earth shattering. I think my factory radio is playing a role in that and choking the system a bit. (Kicker Key 200.4/500.1, JL Stealthbox, Focal RSE-165/RCX-165, with factory radio)

I think you'd be happy with the powered RF 8".

I had to build a custom box for an old Volkswagen I had.

Looks like I will have to do the same for my access cab as there seems to be little to no options for it.

No way I'm paying 700+ for a box alone, that's just absurd.

My kicker 46CXA660.5 amp is 2-3/8" high.
I could not slide it under the seat from the rear or front. The bar attached under the rear of the seat was too low and moves with the seat. With the seat forward there was not enough room for amp to be installed without considering space for wiring connections. In addition, the factory seat wiring is an issue plus the under seat heat vents in the carpet. Installation may be possible by jacking the up the seat to allow room but a rear passenger would not have reasonable room for their feet. Keeping the amp switches/wiring away from feet and having access to make adjustments was more important.

The driver's seat has about 3.5 inches of clearance. You have to pull the seat out, mount your accessories, and bolt it back down. The seat frame vs the ridges in the floor pan won't let you slide anything under.

The passenger seat has considerably less clearance, as there is a bar under the seat. Some say 3", others say 2.5. I never measured that side.
