Adding USB into cab for Apple CarPlay

I’ve searched and maybe I missed it. I’m looking for find out what I need to run the usb from the back of a double din stereo with Apple CarPlay into the cab. Specifically to one of the blank rectangular slots under the AC controls. Here is a picture of the spot I want to run it. I’m assuming that I can plug my phone in and it will charge and connect to the deck.

The head unit I’m looking at is the Pioneer AVH-1330nex

 

I just picked up a pioneer nex 2330 and I bought a factory USB retention cable... tied into existing usb

 

Unfortunately I don't have an existing usb in my 09 DC. I need to add one to the slots

Bought this one on Amazon for my buddies radio I installed. Expect the flap/cover to break off, other than that it works well.

Really no one else has done this? Looking for more options and opinions on running the usb into the cab.

 

I bought the same one to use with my Pioneer HU. Fits in the factory hole, works great for Carplay. No complaints.
