So I bought some tweeters to install, I've been looking around about how to do it. I have found some confusing things, mostly about the tweeter to 6x9 wiring. I am under the impression that if the factory tweeter is unplugged then the door speaker will not work. I am thinking about tapping into the already existing tweeter speaker without unplugging it. Will that work? I am familiar with circuits, solders, etc. I don't see how this wouldn't work. I also saw that some people just take out the existing tweeter then ground the circuit to itself. Anybody have pictures or anything that could help?

What’s your end goal? Versus adding additional tweeters, you may want to look at replacing the stock one or replacing both the tweeter and lower door speaker unless you want some really really bright sounding highs which is why you are adding more tweeters

The factory tweeters are absolute garbage. I ended up wiring 2 tweeters to each side, I just wired the new tweeter to the exposed connection on the old tweeter, works fine. Then I 3m taped them to the black plastic piece at the top of the door panel. I have an aftermarket head unit so I was able to “tune” them to my liking. Couldn’t imagine not tuning them, their original frequencies are extremely high

The exposed tweeter wires had a capacitor, no need for a crossover. This would act as a high pass filter.

Uh huh... soooooo, you have any idea what that high pass filter frequency is? Because, iirc the factory “tweeter” is actually covering a lot of mid as well because it’s more of a wide band speaker than a tweeter. This is the 05 Tacoma?

Which is the exposed tweeter that you're referring to? The one you're adding?

Tweeters sound great, work great, no issues. Just soldered to the existing tweeter and put them on the a-pillar. Door speakers and sound deadening is next, mud graps get loud
