Adjusting Clutch Lever

    5100 set to max, pending LSD and TRD CAI
    So my clutch lever is set a bit far and its not the type that can be adjusted. I'm thinking about bending it a bit by heating it with a torch. Is this a bad idea? Any other ideas other then replacing it with an aftermarket lever?

    Depending on the material the lever is made of, heating it make actually weaken it.

    I wouldn't heat it for the reason above.

    Pazzo levers are like 60 bucks per side when I bought them. Probably a better bet. How old is your bike??

    Depends on the bike- but the one I broke off my bike was metal...

    It would really help to know what type of bike you have and if the clutch lever is aluminum or what? I've bent the aluminum ones on accident and on purpose(without heat) so they can be bent. Pictures would be great!

    It's a 1988 Honda shadow vt600c and I think it's made of aluminum.

    The levers are made to break away in an accident so they don't damage the clutch perch or brake master cyl. If you bend it it will be weaker. Look for a set of adjustable levers and you'll be all set.

    When replacing the lever, if turning in the adjuster ring won't give you enough slack, just remove the bolt that holds the clutch to the perch and you should be able to take the lever off. If its still too tight, loosen up the cable stay on the clutch end of the cable and that will let you take the lever off. When you replace it, make your adjustments on the clutch end first with the adjuster ring at the handlebar turned all the way in. This will give you the maximum adjustment at the adjuster ring as the cable stretches.

    Thanks for the advise i'm sure its going to be useful in the future but I'm only using this bit as a learner. I plan to sell it for something newer in a few months.
