Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I'm no expert, but welds I would think have stronger structural integrity.

Just a bunch of old crap
I'm no expert either, but I just can't figure how bolts would be stronger than really good welds done right and with the proper support. I feel confident that my welds will hold up the entire weight of my truck when I drop it on a boulder, but bolts would make me cringe a little.

well, with 700+ posts I would have assumed you'd have figured out people dont like to be told 'how it is' like you are the all knowing deity of all things truck related. its not that you didnt have some credible points... somewhere back there... but opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one , and they all stink. so that's all you got - your opinion. which is the same as what i got.

    btw-
i have a set of weld on being fabbed right now. I asked and was told by Billy from BruteForce Fab, that "IF... they are done right...Weld on are stronger". He has 13+ years of building trail rigs, fabbing sliders, exoskelotons etc... I trust his opinion, because I too, am no expert.

I think that if there was some colossal failure with weld on that they would have been documented up and down by TW'ers. thats one thing we do like to complain about shit that dont work right. :D

Though I haven't officially spoken to Eric regarding slider rails, I too am seriously considering Relentless Sliders; as well as front and rear bumpers, but those will have to wait for another group buy.

    1) Not all cab configurations have existing holes that will allow for strong enough bolt-on only mounting.

    2) Fuck the warranty.

    3) Law? Meh.

Yup. That's what I'm looking at too.

Can you lift the front end off the ground with it? or is that only steel?

I'm on my phone so I can't read through the whole thread, especially being that I'm at work. But how would weld on look any different from bolt on to a cop?

rock sliders are MEANT TO SLIDE OVER ROCKS. if you use holes that are already in the frake the sliders will not take a hit/slam. get your "sliders" put a high lift under it. lift your tires off the ground and watch what happens. THEN get some weldons and do the same and let us know which ones break off.

the bolt ons that go into the factory holes are for looks! here ill help you out incase you need it.

    from avidoffroad.com LINK: http://www.avidoffroad.com/products/05-tacoma-products/sliders/
The 2005+ Tacoma Sliders can be ordered to bolt on or weld on. Both are built out of the same size material and both are built with five center supports. The difference between the two is how they mount to the truck.
The bolt-on slider/steps are an alternative to the step bars. They are designed more for the people that like the looks of sliders but don’t need the super strength of weld ons. There is no drilling or welding required to install them. They simply bolt into the factory running board mounts. Because of the mounting location, these sliders are not intended to support the weight of the truck but can be used as steps, dent protection, and light off-roading. Think of them as step bars that look like sliders.
The weld on sliders are designed for the more extreme off-roading. The triangulated frame plate design allows the frame welds to be angled, giving them much more strength then the normal vertical weld on design. Four legs attach the sliders to the frame, making them solid enough for a hi-lift jack and strong enough to protect your truck through whatever situation arises out on the trail.

OP if your in for looks and wont do any heavy offroading go bolt on. but if you want a true slider with true strength go weld on or get bolt ons that require drilling into the frame. (weld ons are still stronger either way)

OP, it's personal choice. Both work fine so it's a matter of whether or not you have access to a welder and someone who knows how to use it.
