So my little man of a boss/company owner told me that he would pay me for the already approved vacation that happened to fall between my 2 weeks notice of leaving.... but it was bc he was a good person and that I am a bar person and I handled that wrong for government by him 3 weeks notice....when My first thought was to come back from my vacation and give 1 week and be done!! If I could push time back and work a month I would but my new shop is already gonna be closed 1 week bc the other guy has to start his New Job.

I still would of done what others did and come back from vacation and then put in your two weeks. You rightfully earned your PTO and are using it as expected, I don't see why you need to be penalized for choosing to not work for your employer shortly after.

They don't give you a 2 week notice when they fire you, so why bother.

I had a buddy that was let go from a Auto repair shop because it was found that he was fucking the owners ex wife 5 years removed. He went back with a pellet gun and shot out all the screens on the diagnostic equipment through the exhaust ports in the bay doors 40K in damage....

As others have said, dont burn bridges if you dont have to. A good example is how everyone wants to talk crap about their company and people when you leave, but you dont for future references.

I think what you did was fair, you're still working your two weeks, which gives employers time to replace you and finalize things, in fact your giving three. Your boss is butt hurt, and your vacation falls at the most inopportune time. If it was me, i would have tried to delay the vacation. In fact, thats what many business owners, as you now are, have to do at times. If you couldn't, i dont think there is any real long term bridge burning there, but dont rely on him for future refs if it comes to it, unless he realizes its NBD and says so. A good boss will tell you that on your way out

Too poor to list anything interesting.
This OP. I worked at one company where my employer didn't pay out my PTO after I left. I learned the hard way to burn as much PTO as I could before leaving.

I think it depends on the business. I have to work ten years at my firm to get an official mandatory "two week notice." Doesn't mean with my time in that they still wouldn't give me the heads up, but legally they don't have to. I have to work 5 years here just to get the "one week notice." If not, then they can tell me to pack my things day of.

That is normally one of the first things I get solidified about a company when I start working. If they don't pay me out upon leaving then I wont have more than 25 hours stored at one time.

5 plus years matter of fact. He was showing someone at work pictures on his phone and there was a pic of him and her at a bar and the guy goes thats the owners ex wife he had no idea a month later he was let go and I guess the ex husband called the ex wife and said I just fired your boyfriend..I will have to find out but I think there was an attorney hired as well and a settlement was reached.

Edit: yep unlawful discharge and was settled for 3 prior years of annual salary and the company had to pay legal fees...

Not quite sure what that even means, or how it would work.........

Does your 'own business' mean having staff? If so, you better be learning the rules for your state the right way, not on a truck forum.

Best of luck with whatever it is you are trying to do!

Someone that doesn't want their business anymore and just hands it over to someone else.
