    None so far
That is the problem with Carfax. The only way it is effective is if the repair was done by an authorized shop that diligently put the repair in the system. If it was done by some shop that does not belong in the system there will be no Carfax.

I think the issue here is that, one, it was not "certified-pre owned" and two, #8 has clearly been followed and is likely overarching.
Should they have disclosed previous work done under warranty? That's up for debate, but it's likely not a requirement.

@Tacoma3rdGen - it was not certified. It will be a question I ask when I'm there later today, why it wasn't.

No. 8 covers it. Bottom line imo.

I don't have an issue with the transmission being replaced. That is a fairly common issue (my last 2 Toyota's had them replaced). I would have an issue with the leaky brake light and not knowing how much it leaked and how much mold might be in the carpet. But you are right, clearly not sold representing it's true condition. If it were mine, I would root around and look for signs of mold.

If the techs at his dealership are anything like mine I'd be apprehensive as well.

OP - I wouldn't be happy with the dealer balls-deep in my truck without being upfront about it either. Buying used can be a crap-shoot.

Generally something like a transmission job is given to a master tech. Some are asshats, but many master techs put alot of pride in their work. They invest alot of time into getting that master tech status and it becomes a career for them.

Lube techs and general techs are just there to collect a paycheck. Most shops only have 1-2 good master techs though.

As a buyer it’s your obligation to thoroughly inspect a used vehicle. The fact that the vehicle wasn’t sold as certified preowned tells you it didn’t meet that criteria which is a red flag...that should have been address for explanation as to why at the point of sale. Unfortunately they did nothing wrong as you receive the benefit of your bargain.

Disingenuous - Freely offering a Carfax you know doesn't reflect work you performed.

I would also inquire as to why the subject service/repair was not entered into Carmax system... I would suggest to the GM that purposeful obmission is equivalent to falsifying.

you experienced in such..? from a legal prospective, “Lying by omission, also known as a continuing misrepresentation or quote mining, occurs when an important fact is left out in order to foster a misconception. Lying by omission includes the failure to correct pre-existing misconceptions.”

Wrong. Dealers routinely do repairs to new vehicles that are damaged during transport or through mishaps (falling off a lift, window left open during storm, etc.) and are not obligated to disclose any of it to the buyer.

huh? he got a used car... not a new car. And im well aware that dealers do that, I spent 6 years working for a VW dealership. Infact in my post history I have told people the same thing you just said about new cars having damage. It was a thread about a miss aligned hood on a silver tacoma.

My point was that a new car will generally not have any repairs done already.

Knowing this, in hindsight you should have asked for all repair and maintenance records in writing before purchase.

It was in response to your statement "Only way to get around this is to buy a new car." Just saying that's false as new cars can also have undisclosed repairs.

I realized that while walking to the bathroom a minute ago and added a edit to mine :)

Yes you are right, there may be a repair done while new, but its not as common as it is with a used car.
