why your lamin-x keep peeling off? I just ordered me a set of those and am planning on installing them this weekend. I took out the whole fog light from the bumper and going to clean them really good before i stick them in the light. Any tip on installing those?

^^ I've heard some people use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm them up as you are applying them. That may help, I didn't do that. I only had trouble with one of them (mainly), so I'm sure I was partly to blame.

Nice truck. The yellow fogs and Sockmonkeys look sharp on Pyrite.

LOL...Thanks, and the comment comes just in time.... I'm actually taking the yellow Trailiens off soon because I've ordered a set of black retro stripes from Sock. Hopefully they arrive and the weather cooperates so I can put them on next weekend.

Your's looks great too. I hope to get some white letter tires before next winter when the stockers wear out.

^^ Thanks...the mirrors are working out great, they are a quality product. Well worth the effort to put them in, especially in areas where the winters are long and cold like New England.

Tailgate looks great! Sock sent me an email with colors and have been debating between white, black, red and beige. The black shows-up much more than I had expected. Anxious to hear how the Plasti-dip holds-up. I want the do the rear bump and chrome grill.

Thanks guys, pyrite is a great color, I haven't regretted it once.
nyfishhunter, yeah, the black does show up good and it matches the bed liner, gate handle, etc. I think the plasti dip is going to last, it seems very durable so far.
I never thought about beige, but I have seen some pyrites with stock decals with red in them, and I wasn't really impressed with that color combo.
You should take some color samples and tape them to your truck until you find one that really does it for you. Good luck, and of course be sure to post some pics on sock's thread when you get them done.

good looking truck!! did you put the retro stripes on as well, or just the "TOYOTA" on the tailgate? i have been wanting to do all of socks retros on mine but, i haven't been able to decide on a color. after seeing yours', i am thinking of going with black. i would like to see more picks if you did install the stripes.

I ordered a complete set, but the stripes are tricky to install and I messed them up. After seeing how they would have looked, I was ok with it. It was just a bit much, for my taste, so I just went with the tailgate decals.

i keep going back and forth with the idea, first it was the color and second is how much it is going to add to the truck. the ones i have seen look amazing, i just would like to see them on our color trucks before i bought the whole set. thanks for the input/reply!

how do you like those mirrors? I'm thinking about doing heated mirrors before winter. I saw someone added snowmobile heated hand grip pads behind his mirrors, but I'm curious about these Muth Mirrors..

Well, I traded this truck in yesterday after I got hit by a flatbed, but I actually took the mirrors (among other things) and I just barely finished reinstalling them in the new Tacoma. Took me nine hours this time. It is a bitch to install them, but obviously I love them or I wouldn't have gone through that again.

If you live where there is cold weather, I highly recommend getting these.

Yea my mirrors are covered in dew every morning.

Why did it take so long? I skimmed their installation instructions to see what it looks like.. how is the mirror swapping part of it? I'm not worried about the wiring. How do you like the turn signals in the mirrors? I think I might prefer to not have them, but it looks like there will be a triangle in the mirror no matter what so I might as well make them work.

    Thanks for the help.

and actually.. where in VT are you? I was born in Rutland and lived in Chittenden. :D

The mirror swapping takes literally seconds. It is the wiring that takes so long. I also used a Highlander heated mirror switch and that means you have to also add in a relay or that $70 switch will get burned out on the first try. On paper it looks very simple, but it is complicated. Then tearing the door panels off, the sill guard, foot rest, a few other panels, and disassembling the mirrors, routing the wires, oh, and I had to put in an 'add a fuse' to make sure it was protected from shorts and overloads.

To be honest, I only cared about the heated mirrors, but the signals actually are pretty cool. I have a few pics here. When they are off you can barely see the signal etchings.

I live in the Brattleboro area, but I'm from NH most of my life...wish I was back there without all the taxes, but VT is very nice too.
