Installed CAI and can confirm. Doesn't do much in the low end, but oh man does it kick you back in your seat over 3.5k rpms. Absolutely a noticeable difference in the top end.
    It's loud though, be warned.

I installed this aFe cold air intake on my 17 Tacoma. It definitely makes a difference. I can climb hills or just have additional load on it, such as a loaded truck and/or additional people, and it downshifts less. That means it has at least additional torque to keep from downshifting. Gas mileage is up about 1-1/2 to 2 mpg on the highway. I noticed the difference right away and am happy with it. And, yes it sounds better too.

I have the K&N cold air intake tube and air filter on my truck. I bought it that way so I can't say much about performance but yes it's loud! About 3500 it gets very noticeable, I guess when the variable valve timing changes.

I ran the aFe on my 2019. Then I found the S&B for my 22. Both great noise makers. Imo, the S&B looks a little better with its larger plexi window and bigger airbox.

They have a mount for behind the grill to fit twin ARB.

okay weird question, ive an AFE intake and when i have the plug in the engine side intake my truck feels a little more gutsy, under load. now i though maybe my filter was filthy but seems like both ways, i now leave the plug in not that the Pacific Northwest is some hot desert or anything. anyone else "butt dyno" feel like this? or am i nuts and everyone else feels no changes

In its usual spot. Factory intake box. I went back to factory setup.

I see you are running the optional front pickup tube on the S&B box. Can you tell me if it actually grabs cold air from the front of the truck, warm air from the engine bay, or does it just butt-up to the frame?

The tube can certainly pull air from outside the engine bay. It ends with about a 1" gap from metal. Probably grabs air that is routed around the radiator.
It was this option or the "plug" they also.provide that just closes that hole.
The box itself is "cold air" as the horn from the air box is installed into the fender. Hope this answer helps. I tried snapping a pic tonight, but was already too dark to photo

Cool, thanks. You definitely answered my question. I'll be picking up an S&B for sure.
