I don't have an AFE, the one I plan to list at some point is an Airaid, Poweraid. Fits the Tacoma 4.0.

If you are interested shoot me a PM. I realize this is not the one you asked about sorry to highjack a little, just trying help if you might consider another brand.

Unless ur looking to plumb it with laughing gas, or have another use for it, ur not gunna notice any gains.

IIRC, a moderator here confronted a TBS rep and made him look like a fool after he confessed the gains were not measurable...Its a nice paperweight, possibly a good option for a 7th injector if blown?
or a plumbed way to spray.

I got 1 for the cost of shipping just for shits and grins.......I gave it away with that afe stage 2 Si I had.....

    YMMV

I would agree that it is probably fact without seeing a dyno run to say an increase in peak HP is probably not there.

What some owners of throttle body spacers have commented on is the truck makes the power output differently. Overall more drivable.

Sort of like the debate on CAI. Most will not provide any appreciable if any gains in maximum HP, but for various reasons, they tend to help the truck have a better midrange partial throttle feel / pull.

Unfortunately, none of this is easily documented to show proof. Sort of like a Bigfoot, Loc Ness Monster or Aliens. Granted they don't exist because no one has captured one yet.

If the truck was dynoed on a true rolling road dyno instead of a drum dyno doing WFO pulls, some of the stuff blown off as crap, may in fact have benefits.

Unfortunately, most people buy based on an inflated peak HP increase from a drum / inertia dyno claim.

Rolling road dynos are expensive and not common, so no results will show those numbers.

FWIW, when I was helping a friend build his new at the time 4 stroke MX engine program. We did some dyno work at his shop. Constantly he was headed for peak HP numbers, but the bikes were crap at the track and suffered at anything less then peaks. Finally, one day, I was a bit frustrated and said, you want a big number to show and tell. Dyno the 250 without a seat. He did and gained 2hp on a 250f. I then explained that just like his motors they made big numbers but couldn't be ridden.

I taught him to get away from a peak mentality and make less peak power but a wider rideable power that was easier to ride. This let the team riders move up into some very good placings in nationals level SX and MX.

I know if he would have invested in the proper rolling road dyno, we could have built substantial gains on the race motors from 3/4 to WFO.
