How can a 3rd-Gen with over 30 extra horsepower, be underpowered as compared to the 2nd-Gen? Torque is about the same. I know the new one is heavier, but with all the extra HP, that shouldn't matter.
I drive like a granny, so I really doubt that I'll regret this!
The time is right. Interests rates are going up next month. This is a late 3rd-Gen, with all the bugs fixed (I hope!). And I don't want to deal with all the teething problems of the upcoming Mexican-made 4th-gen (2023.5-2024)

Just drive your new ride like you normally would. Let the transmission learn your driving habits. And you won't be disappointed.
The 3.5's power is moved up a few hundred rpm. Actually feels a little stouter by my butt dyno than the 4.0.

Got my 2nd-Gen to a new loving home yesterday and my 2022 Sport 2x4 Taco today!
We drove it out the dealer and into the countryside for about 70-80 miles through Grovetown, Thomson, Lincolnton, Appling and back home.
So far, I love the truck. Yes, the ride is bumpy, but felt great on the many winding roads. Gives you confidence. I’m strugging with all that tech, but I’ll figure it out.
I’ll post more details of my initial experience on the 3rd Gen Forum.

Nice looking truck! The bumpy ride will fade into the background in your head over over time. It did for me. It comes back once in a while to remind me that I'm driving a truck and not some Buick, when I'm on some of the sketchy Forest Service roads up North, getting to the good spots on my fly-fishing outings. It's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much: It doesn't try particularly hard to be anything other than truck; especially when it comes to it's underpinnings. IMO: the main reason for its loyal following.

Congrats! The only downside of buying a new truck is re-doing all the mods. Or… maybe it’s an upside that you have a blank slate do all new mods.
