Aftermarket carrier bearings/center support bearings?

    Interesting,Wonder if that might be why some still have vibs after complete drive shaft overhauls.

    Looking at Spicer Drivetrain Components Catalog (attached) I found the dimensions of 5002007
    Bearing I.D.: 1.181
    Center to Center of Mounting Holes: 5.906
    Centerline to mounting surface: .244
    Bracket Width: 2.244

    Thought I saw the dimensions of 5002334 but can't seem to find it in the catalog, which is from 2008 or Spicer's website. It might be listed as a Dana part #, but not sure which. The only one I found that was close was 211750-1X.
    Bearing I.D.: 1.181
    Center to Center of Mounting Holes: 5.910

    Even the pictures on drivetrainamerica's website of 5002334 and 211750-1X look the same except the holes on the bottom.

    Sub'd I was getting ready to order a solid drive shaft but now I think I'll just get the spicer carrier bearing and u joint. So does anyone have a write up? I've done most of the maintenance on my truck but never a carrier bearing.

    Ordered a Spicer carrier bearing and u joints. When I get it finished I'll let you guys know how it workes out.

    Alright here's the situation. I replaced the carrier bearing and all 3 u joints with Spicer products. The carrier bearing was in fact marked toyota. And the old U joints were marked Spicer so that's good news. Here's the not so good news. I was getting vibes around 30-35 before the replacement but now I'm getting the same vibes around 20-25 mph. Any suggestions? I'm so frustrated.

    Yes. I tied off to the bearing caps on the u joints

    Make sure you have the carrier bearing the right way around, the bearing is offset from the mounting tabs. Mine is installed with the single hole facing down, 2 holes facing up.

    And you're sure none of the needle bearings fell during install? Which u-joints did you get? If greasable, If you grease the u-joints does the vibration dampen/go away?

    All the needle bearings were in place. I've replaced u joints before. I got the Spicer u joints and I've already greased them. When driving I'm noticing that my ride is smoother at higher speeds so I'm thinking that is do to the new hardware. I'm wondering if the vibes around 25-30 mph are do to another problem.

    Take some videos of the driveshaft at those speeds.

    I assume your old center bearing allowed lots of shaft travel up and down and new one is tighter at least initially. I'm sure the new one actually has the shaft raised slightly because of new firmer rubber. Maybe try shimming the center bearing down in slight increments? Just a cheap easy shot. One other thing I found that's not super logical is string line your shaft from end to end to align the center bearing, then shove it as much as you can to the side with the most travel in the slotted mount and tighten. My only theory why it vibrates less after doing this is it puts a little more friction in the splines at the rear?
