Thoughts on a replacement aftermarket tailgate for my 2008 TRD Sport? Been looking at the below (HECASA) part on Amazon. OEM goes for $400 plus. If this part below will fit as claimed, I'd like to save the extra cash for other repairs. Yes, this is Chinese crap but....

This is primered and ready to be painted. They claim it's a simple plug and play installation. I'm not looking for absolute factory perfection but would just like it to fit properly.

    Thoughts?

I bought a painted one off of ebay once upon a time. Quality of the skin was just fine. Paint job/clear job was not. If you plan on cleaning it up and painting yourself it should be fine.

The Chinese one is likely to be thinner gauge. I bought a Chinese-made fender for daughter’s Corolla and it was noticeably lighter. That may be your only shot however.

Yeah, I called salvage yards near me and checked ebay out for a used one. The salvage yards have shit pieces for way too much. I may as well just keep my damaged original and try to bend it back into shape! ebay is way too expensive! I'm not about to pay $400 for the part and $300 for shipping! I bought the Chinese Hecasa version for $185 and just hope my body guy can get it to fit right. If not, I'll put a net there until I can figure it out.

Fab Fours makes some sweet bumpers for front and rear. I have a front bumper on my truck and its awesome.

wdavis, yeah but I need a tailgate! :) The local salvage yards want like $600 for one and I just can't see it! I can get a new shell from Toyota for $400 but think this Hecasa unit I have is going to work.

It should be fine as long as everything lines up and the lines are straight. But I wouldn't put too much weight on it. I think oem can take 300 lbs; I wouldn't go over 100.
